that's a pink shoe with white stripes but I have notably blah color perception

mh, Monday, 7 May 2018 13:44 (five years ago) link

Haha, I know people were completely done with this the first time around, but I find this color perception stuff interesting. It looks grey with teal to me, and i just can't see it as pink at all.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 7 May 2018 13:53 (five years ago) link

It’s just a bad photo of a shoe

valorous wokelord (silby), Monday, 7 May 2018 14:00 (five years ago) link

reminds me of this dumb project some coworkers are trying to fix: a stationary camera takes pictures of a bunch of samples that have an image that's basically a QR code on the top. at some point, the image recognition got worse, so they're trying to fix it up by filtering/rotating/etc

every smartass is like "yeah, but my phone can scan those easily!" and you have to realize when scanning that kind of thing with a phone, you're moving a camera that's autofocusing around until it gets to a position where it gets it. you're doing the rotating/panning manually

so from a stationary image with blown-out (or in this case, what looks like florescent) lighting, some people will extrapolate based on light, some will pick up the color as captured, and there's just enough variation in color perception that you get another layer of vagueness on top

the only way to tell for sure is to mail me the shoe

so strange to imagine what real life situation leads to someone identifying with that and reposting it. i'm assuming it comes down to a kid having met someone online, and maybe they also, unrelatedly, use twitter. the parents are obviously way more likely to spend their days on ebay.

I feel like it’s from the forced, fake perspective of a parent created by a kid who feels their habits are judged

but they aren’t really like that at all

But the age threshold for finding that hilarious will rise inexorably, ever out of reach beyond your fingertips, until you are elderly enough to find telemarketing calls a refreshing change in your daily routine.

Mid-forties. Never left parents' home and has trouble staying at jobs for any period of time but has opinions about government assistance programs and whatever else comes down the pike from Fox News. Fortunately they quit sharing political stuff a while back for the most part. At the same time a sweet and fun person who I hate to drag too much, but not exactly the most self-aware.

Just want to point out that Don Corleone was very strictly against moving into the narcotics business. If that's not a clear sign of morality, respect, and intelligence, I don't know what is.

gonna go ahead and hazard a guess that this staged photo session of a stationary vehicle concluded with everybody opening some beers and calling it a day and that the actual number of accidents caused on "road I-35" was zero

noel gallaghah's high flying burbbhrbhbbhbburbbb (Doctor Casino), Thursday, 17 May 2018 19:25 (five years ago) link

the only segment of I-35 that'd have moose would be near Duluth, so I'm assuming this is some Duluth regionalism

:)

(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ (mh), Thursday, 17 May 2018 19:30 (five years ago) link

maybe that's your answer: moose say "road I-35"

(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ (mh), Thursday, 17 May 2018 19:30 (five years ago) link

Relatedly, the usage of "the" before a highway or whatever is a classic tell for TV or film set on the East Coast but written and made on the West Coast. We don't say "the 95."

an alfred hitchcock joint (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 17 May 2018 19:33 (five years ago) link

"road" I-35 is weird

also mh good point, also the fact they are saying I-35 instead of 35W or 35E means it's either north or south of the metro and there ain't much for moose in my homeland
