Just a minor league deal though.

Michael F Gill, Friday, 4 May 2018 01:27 (five years ago) link

he's probably not worse than reyes anyway

mookieproof, Friday, 4 May 2018 01:44 (five years ago) link

Mets DFA Matt Harvey. Asked him to go to minors and he refused.

HALLELUJAH! I may also have a job, but I'm more excited about this.

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Friday, 4 May 2018 20:13 (five years ago) link

niiice. congrats, morbs :)

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Friday, 4 May 2018 20:14 (five years ago) link

Wow. Kind of had to happen though. The relationship was getting toxic, to say the least. Not to mention the pitching was just not there.

Michael F Gill, Friday, 4 May 2018 20:42 (five years ago) link

I understand the sudden happiness but the broader picture is quite sad. I don't want any of those 2 injuries to happen to any baseball player.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 4 May 2018 20:54 (five years ago) link

It'll be good for Matt to get out of New York and turn the page

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Friday, 4 May 2018 20:55 (five years ago) link

A lot of Mets inside dirt is going to come out if and when Harvey signs with another team.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Friday, 4 May 2018 21:25 (five years ago) link

The Harvey outside dirt is enough for me.

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Friday, 4 May 2018 22:34 (five years ago) link

Good grief, Wheeler gives up 5 runs in the first before getting 2 outs.

Michael F Gill, Friday, 4 May 2018 23:34 (five years ago) link

I am there now with the Redds, sitting right behind home plate, albeit way up in the cheap seats, with my gimme Bruuuce! shirt on.

Nashville #9 Dream (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 4 May 2018 23:37 (five years ago) link

deGrom retroactively to DL, planned to start in Philly next Sunday

Mets will do the right thing after all else has been tried

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 6 May 2018 18:25 (five years ago) link

The Mets batted out of order, and as a result forfeited a man in scoring position in the first inning. I've never seen that before in a professional baseball game.

bold move. i love it.

M! T! E! S!

frogbs, Wednesday, 9 May 2018 18:32 (five years ago) link

ya gotta bottom out before you can rise

and losing a series to the Reds is it

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 10 May 2018 01:16 (five years ago) link

i can only imagine if willie randolph, the second-best mets manager of all time by winning pct, had batted out of order

mookieproof, Thursday, 10 May 2018 02:26 (five years ago) link

CONFORRRRTO

MEZZZZOROCKO

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 12 May 2018 01:44 (five years ago) link

that was a big May 11 win

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 12 May 2018 02:40 (five years ago) link

indeed, didn’t look good until the last minute.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 12 May 2018 02:49 (five years ago) link

Degrom with a 45 pitch first inning but still does not give up a run.

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 13 May 2018 19:16 (five years ago) link

walked first 3; about 20 foul balls

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 13 May 2018 19:17 (five years ago) link

And that's all for Jacob deGrom. The Mets won't let him go any further after throwing 45 pitches in the first. Luis Guillorme pinch-hits in the top of the second inning, making his first MLB plate appearance.

so really, what was the point?

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 13 May 2018 19:20 (five years ago) link

"We're very mindful that at some point, this can't continue." That time is just not now for the Mets and injured outfielder Yoenis Cespedes:https://t.co/ksnjaDKQ6T

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 16 May 2018 00:07 (five years ago) link

The Mets are 12-0 all-time against the Blue Jays in Queens. Additionally, they are 186-177 in Interleague play, with the best winning percentage (.512) of any NL club.

Ces to DL, Phillip Evans up

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 16 May 2018 16:26 (five years ago) link

Guillorme is 3-for-3 to start in his career. Last #Mets hitter to do that was Steven Matz in 2015.

of course

bad news easier to take via art

Guess Nimmo will be freed

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Friday, 18 May 2018 19:49 (five years ago) link

Lobaton DFA'd, so there is room on the 40 for another outfielder, or possibly Peter Alonso? Nido and Flexen back up too.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 19 May 2018 18:56 (five years ago) link

no reason to put alonso on the 40 unless they're calling him up, and gonzalez is at least playable at first (for now)

continuing to give playing time to reyes, however, is a disaster, and rosario seems over his head at the moment. free luis guillorme! at the very least he's a plus defender

mookieproof, Saturday, 19 May 2018 19:46 (five years ago) link

Rosario seems pretty even-keeled and I like his defense so far. Has been hitting a bit better lately, def needs to work on his obp and stolen bases though.

Dom Smith apparently playing in the outfield tonight in AAA.

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 20 May 2018 01:15 (five years ago) link

Mesoraco has been a good pickup so far though

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 20 May 2018 02:24 (five years ago) link

consecutive wins, hallelujah

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 20 May 2018 03:00 (five years ago) link

dom smith in the outfield seems like an amazingly bad idea -- but he did throw someone out (at second) tonight!

mookieproof, Sunday, 20 May 2018 03:31 (five years ago) link

i’m sorry i doubted you, amed

mookieproof, Sunday, 20 May 2018 19:22 (five years ago) link

didn't sweep a series all last year

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Monday, 21 May 2018 13:32 (five years ago) link

First *home* sweep since 2016, they did have some road sweeps last year.

The way he is going, Gsellman could be a potential closer next year if Familia leaves. It’s not like they will be many other options.

Michael F Gill, Monday, 21 May 2018 14:37 (five years ago) link

mea culpa

A friend and I cancelled going tonight solely cuz Vargas is pitching.

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Monday, 21 May 2018 14:49 (five years ago) link

i'm hoping we can point and laugh at this Mickey quote in ten days or so

Jose Reyes is batting .132/.179/.189 in 31 games, including a 2-for-22 funk this month.

Mickey Callaway says Reyes' roster spot is not his decision, but adds: "I think there's more baseball left in Jose. As far as I'm concerned, Jose is a big part of this team." #Mets

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Monday, 21 May 2018 23:16 (five years ago) link

of course Vargas set the first nine down

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Monday, 21 May 2018 23:50 (five years ago) link

The Mets' update on Yoenis Cespedes (strained right hip flexor) is simply: "Continues rehab in New York."

Mickey Callaway seemed taken aback yesterday when asked about Cespedes, whom the Mets hesitated to put on the DL. Cespedes has refused to talk to media for 15 straight days.
