Matt Harvey was partying in LA the night before he had a wobbly time coming out of the bullpen for the Mets in San Diego, sources told Page Six.

Harvey attended the Thursday opening of hot Avra Beverly Hills, where guests included Halle Berry, Cindy Crawford, Ellen Pompeo and Selma Blair.

But a spy told us that Harvey was “out at the Avra opening stumbling around . . . He had to sit down at one point. He must have been so desperate to party, he came up from San Diego.”

Another guest said that among so many stars, “Nobody knew who Matt was,” but, “he was sober.”

Harvey — who’s been relegated to the bullpen — has gotten into hot water in the past for partying when he should’ve been prepping.

Harvey suddenly being a teetotaler but ALSO still partying every night is the kind of shocking twist that would fit into the Mets Canon

Was Alderson upset about Page Six report on Harvey? “Usually I get upset if a report is unexpected. I guess the short answer is no.”

That’s cold.

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 2 May 2018 21:13 (five years ago) link

Your hex hit the wrong guy. DeGrom out after 4 IP, back tightness apparently.

WilliamC, Thursday, 3 May 2018 00:28 (five years ago) link

ooh, no, hyperextended elbow

WilliamC, Thursday, 3 May 2018 00:36 (five years ago) link

On a swing. Let's add the DH.

And i was wearing my deGrom jersey.

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 3 May 2018 16:03 (five years ago) link

no sense of foreboding here at all!

UPDATE: Jacob deGrom's MRI revealed no ligament damage. He's going to try to start Monday. #Mets

It really was a wide zone last night, and Newcomb lived on those edges.

WilliamC, Thursday, 3 May 2018 16:16 (five years ago) link

well, i couldn't tell from Section 517.

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 3 May 2018 16:21 (five years ago) link

Really hope DeGrom turns out to be fine! I feel he’s a cy young contender this year for sure.

Michael F Gill, Thursday, 3 May 2018 16:43 (five years ago) link

The Mets are toying with fans' emotions.

Boos as Jason Vargas allows yet another hit.

Cheers as Mickey Callaway comes to take Vargas out of the game.

Boos when Matt Harvey is the first man out of the bullpen.

I had no idea this was Vargas' second stint as a Met

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 3 May 2018 18:33 (five years ago) link

Seems like deGrom is fine.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 3 May 2018 18:35 (five years ago) link

Very glad I went last night and not today.

Time to cut bait on Harvey. No upside.

Mets to Sign Cody Asche, A Man Who Has Been Above Replacement-Level in One of His Five Seasons, And That One Was in 2014

mookieproof, Thursday, 3 May 2018 21:14 (five years ago) link

Just a minor league deal though.

Michael F Gill, Friday, 4 May 2018 01:27 (five years ago) link

he's probably not worse than reyes anyway

mookieproof, Friday, 4 May 2018 01:44 (five years ago) link

Mets DFA Matt Harvey. Asked him to go to minors and he refused.

HALLELUJAH! I may also have a job, but I'm more excited about this.

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Friday, 4 May 2018 20:13 (five years ago) link

niiice. congrats, morbs :)

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Friday, 4 May 2018 20:14 (five years ago) link

Wow. Kind of had to happen though. The relationship was getting toxic, to say the least. Not to mention the pitching was just not there.

Michael F Gill, Friday, 4 May 2018 20:42 (five years ago) link

I understand the sudden happiness but the broader picture is quite sad. I don't want any of those 2 injuries to happen to any baseball player.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 4 May 2018 20:54 (five years ago) link

It'll be good for Matt to get out of New York and turn the page

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Friday, 4 May 2018 20:55 (five years ago) link

A lot of Mets inside dirt is going to come out if and when Harvey signs with another team.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Friday, 4 May 2018 21:25 (five years ago) link

The Harvey outside dirt is enough for me.

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Friday, 4 May 2018 22:34 (five years ago) link

Good grief, Wheeler gives up 5 runs in the first before getting 2 outs.

Michael F Gill, Friday, 4 May 2018 23:34 (five years ago) link

I am there now with the Redds, sitting right behind home plate, albeit way up in the cheap seats, with my gimme Bruuuce! shirt on.

deGrom retroactively to DL, planned to start in Philly next Sunday

Mets will do the right thing after all else has been tried

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 6 May 2018 18:25 (five years ago) link

The Mets batted out of order, and as a result forfeited a man in scoring position in the first inning. I've never seen that before in a professional baseball game.

and losing a series to the Reds is it

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 10 May 2018 01:16 (five years ago) link

i can only imagine if willie randolph, the second-best mets manager of all time by winning pct, had batted out of order

CONFORRRRTO

MEZZZZOROCKO

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 12 May 2018 01:44 (five years ago) link

that was a big May 11 win

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 12 May 2018 02:40 (five years ago) link

indeed, didn’t look good until the last minute.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 12 May 2018 02:49 (five years ago) link

Degrom with a 45 pitch first inning but still does not give up a run.

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 13 May 2018 19:16 (five years ago) link

walked first 3; about 20 foul balls

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 13 May 2018 19:17 (five years ago) link

And that's all for Jacob deGrom. The Mets won't let him go any further after throwing 45 pitches in the first. Luis Guillorme pinch-hits in the top of the second inning, making his first MLB plate appearance.

— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) May 13, 2018

so really, what was the point?

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 13 May 2018 19:20 (five years ago) link

"We're very mindful that at some point, this can't continue." That time is just not now for the Mets and injured outfielder Yoenis Cespedes:https://t.co/ksnjaDKQ6T

The Mets are 12-0 all-time against the Blue Jays in Queens. Additionally, they are 186-177 in Interleague play, with the best winning percentage (.512) of any NL club.

Guillorme is 3-for-3 to start in his career. Last #Mets hitter to do that was Steven Matz in 2015.

Guess Nimmo will be freed

the ignatius rock of ignorance (Dr Morbius), Friday, 18 May 2018 19:49 (five years ago) link

Lobaton DFA'd, so there is room on the 40 for another outfielder, or possibly Peter Alonso? Nido and Flexen back up too.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 19 May 2018 18:56 (five years ago) link

no reason to put alonso on the 40 unless they're calling him up, and gonzalez is at least playable at first (for now)

continuing to give playing time to reyes, however, is a disaster, and rosario seems over his head at the moment. free luis guillorme! at the very least he's a plus defender
