wow one post the celtics dont have enough star power the next adding a superstar wont do anything

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:13 (five years ago) link

my take adding extremely good players is good, will improve the team a lot, but ill guess well just have to see what the outcome of replacing shane larkin with kyrie irving and marcus morris with gordon hayward is

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:16 (five years ago) link

also replacing all their young guys with one year more experienced versions of themselves

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:21 (five years ago) link

― lag∞n, Thursday, April 26, 2018 1:13 PM (five minutes ago

heh that first post was referring to the fact that hayward and irving might not be the sort of superstars necessary to give the big dogs a real run, but we'll see

k3vin k., Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:21 (five years ago) link

yeah celtics will be better next year. east this year is also quite weak, as always

k3vin k., Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:22 (five years ago) link

im not talkin bout the east im talkin bout all the marbles

lag∞n, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:26 (five years ago) link

I seem to recall Kyrie Irving giving one of the big dogs some problems two years ago

Got a good laugh out of ESPN's "Possible Kawhi Trades" article. Buncha ninnies.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 27 April 2018 16:59 (five years ago) link

I read that bullshit and I was like y'all get paid for this

21st savagery fox (m bison), Friday, 27 April 2018 18:34 (five years ago) link

ive decided kawhi is staying

Carmelo Anthony, asked how he feels his season with the Thunder went: "Interesting."

opt in —> demand trade

will obviously be the path here. PG is def signing elsewhere too.

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Saturday, 28 April 2018 21:13 (five years ago) link

@royceyoung
Melo asked about possibly coming off the bench: "I'm not sacrificing no bench role. So that's out of the question."

Remember before this season when the players were up in arms cos melo was ranked 60th or w/e by espn...

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Saturday, 28 April 2018 21:32 (five years ago) link

what team is gonna willingly drop $28m on this iteration of melo tho

Clay, Saturday, 28 April 2018 21:43 (five years ago) link

its an expiring so it wouldn't be too hard

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Saturday, 28 April 2018 21:47 (five years ago) link

most likely tho is he opts in and they cut him

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Saturday, 28 April 2018 21:51 (five years ago) link

posted it to the other thread by mistake but Miami and Portland will both want to shed salary

Pacers looking good going into the offseason. Haven't really thought too much about what pieces they should add ... kinda intrigued to see if this team can just grow a bit. They m/l have everyone signed through one more year, then basically all of their olds (Bojan, Jefferson, Joseph, Collison, Young/Lance) are up, with the youngs Domas/Turner/Oladipo on team-friendly contracts. Glenn Robinson III in a weird spot ... was supposed to be the starting lock-down SF this year and kinda got derailed (and the Pacers were probably expecting to commit some money to him after that). Hope they figure out a way to sign him on a short deal this summer. Also unexpectedly fell in love with Trevor Booker as a bench dude, would love if they had a spot for him as well.

Kinda wish they'd managed to develop Ike Anibogu to the point where they could use him defensively in the playoffs. Really excited to see him and Edmond Sumner get playing time next year; both are more intriguing bench dudes than TJ Leaf. Wouldn't mind Leaf, Joe Young, and Poythress cleared out.

They will be paying Monta Ellis through 2022.

clearly hates beal and gortat, probably finds oubre useless, may be ok with otto porter.

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 30 April 2018 02:13 (five years ago) link

his contract is a disaster

k3vin k., Monday, 30 April 2018 02:14 (five years ago) link

"i am you franchise player and you were playing pretty good without me, also most of my teammates are ass imo, get me some better players and we'll be good what do you mean ive been traded for aaron gordon--"

if anyone could be the russ whisperer it would be pop

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Tuesday, 1 May 2018 00:24 (five years ago) link

russ is too far gone i think

21st savagery fox (m bison), Tuesday, 1 May 2018 00:46 (five years ago) link

also russ is not a horse

21st savagery fox (m bison), Tuesday, 1 May 2018 00:47 (five years ago) link

now, after winning his mvp, russ will never change his game just to suit a coach. any team willing to pay rwb's contract is in too deep to let their coach alienate him. the coach would be let go first.

someone mentioned it previously but these albatross supermax contracts are gonna be a problem

Clay, Tuesday, 1 May 2018 01:46 (five years ago) link

Someone coined a saying a while back to the effect that, if I can't make the payment on my $10,000 auto loan I have a problem, but if I can't make the payment on my $50 million business loan, the bank has a problem. once you give out a supermax contract, the player's ability to deliver on it becomes your problem, not the player's.

A is for (Aimless), Tuesday, 1 May 2018 01:53 (five years ago) link

indeed

it seems like whenever the owners try and slant the CBA in their favor there’s always an unintended consequence that ends up screwing them. a lot of these owners are going to get stuck with albatross contracts or end up having to trade the stars the CBA is supposed to funnel to them for fear of the albatross contract (i.e. boogie cousins)

I built this place next to me. It’s not a wedding chapel, but they have weddings there. My daughter Lee runs that. She’s an interesting story. I had that daughter out of wedlock. I knew nothing about her for 29 years.

This whole interview

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Tuesday, 1 May 2018 16:24 (five years ago) link

this kawhi piece is pretty thorough given the hush nature of it all
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/23366667/inside-tension-kawhi-leonard-spurs

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Tuesday, 1 May 2018 17:43 (five years ago) link

The Kawhi article went on at great length, but in the end it didn't seem very enlightening. There were lots of facts, but how they connected or what they meant was totally unclear. It raised a lot of questions that seemed entirely based in rumors and innuendoes, then talked around them without resolving anything. Which means it summed up the Kahwi situation perfectly, by being completely opaque and unsatisfactory.

A is for (Aimless), Tuesday, 1 May 2018 20:08 (five years ago) link

you youve gotta draw your own conclusions on this whole thing for now. but there is at least some context around everything.

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Tuesday, 1 May 2018 20:12 (five years ago) link

they should just tell him they won't play him next year at all and and least make him think about not opting in.
