i still think Bron returns to Cleveland, though it depends on how they exit the playoffs or if they--hear me out--win it all.
― omar little, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:00 (five years ago) link
if bron leaves cleveland and doesn't go to the sixers i still think i'd have boston as the favorites
― J0rdan S., Thursday, April 26, 2018 12:57 PM (eight minutes ago)
in the east or overall? the latter seems premature
― k3vin k., Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:06 (five years ago) link
praying for the cavs to succeed now
― lag∞n, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:07 (five years ago) link
yeah the east obviously xp
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:10 (five years ago) link
this is not directed at anyone here but one thing I think tends to be under appreciated is when teams like boston play well without a superstar player or players, there is only so much improvement possible from re-adding that superstar or superstars. the team dynamics change in ways that compensate for their absence, other players grow into roles, etc. adding these players back is not the same as just adding the value that was missing, it is a proportionately smaller improvement
that said the playoffs is where that will really matter so idk. celtics will def be east favorites next year (pending bron decision part 3) but healthy warriors and rockets teams still seem a cut above to me
― k3vin k., Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:11 (five years ago) link
we also still take embiid's health for granted. if anything happens to him the sixers top out at a second round exit probably.
― J0rdan S., Thursday, April 26, 2018 12:57 PM (thirteen minutes ago)
yeah for sure
unless they have lebron lol
wow one post the celtics dont have enough star power the next adding a superstar wont do anything
― lag∞n, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:13 (five years ago) link
my take adding extremely good players is good, will improve the team a lot, but ill guess well just have to see what the outcome of replacing shane larkin with kyrie irving and marcus morris with gordon hayward is
― lag∞n, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:16 (five years ago) link
also replacing all their young guys with one year more experienced versions of themselves
― lag∞n, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:21 (five years ago) link
― lag∞n, Thursday, April 26, 2018 1:13 PM (five minutes ago
heh that first post was referring to the fact that hayward and irving might not be the sort of superstars necessary to give the big dogs a real run, but we'll see
― k3vin k., Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:21 (five years ago) link
yeah celtics will be better next year. east this year is also quite weak, as always
― k3vin k., Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:22 (five years ago) link
im not talkin bout the east im talkin bout all the marbles
― lag∞n, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:26 (five years ago) link
celtics gonna be really good even their two dogs havent hit their prime quite yet. both coming off major injuries tho....

opt in —> demand trade

Pacers looking good going into the offseason. Haven't really thought too much about what pieces they should add ... kinda intrigued to see if this team can just grow a bit. They m/l have everyone signed through one more year, then basically all of their olds (Bojan, Jefferson, Joseph, Collison, Young/Lance) are up, with the youngs Domas/Turner/Oladipo on team-friendly contracts. Glenn Robinson III in a weird spot ... was supposed to be the starting lock-down SF this year and kinda got derailed (and the Pacers were probably expecting to commit some money to him after that). Hope they figure out a way to sign him on a short deal this summer. Also unexpectedly fell in love with Trevor Booker as a bench dude, would love if they had a spot for him as well.
Kinda wish they'd managed to develop Ike Anibogu to the point where they could use him defensively in the playoffs. Really excited to see him and Edmond Sumner get playing time next year; both are more intriguing bench dudes than TJ Leaf. Wouldn't mind Leaf, Joe Young, and Poythress cleared out.
They will be paying Monta Ellis through 2022.

now, after winning his mvp, russ will never change his game just to suit a coach. any team willing to pay rwb's contract is in too deep to let their coach alienate him. the coach would be let go first.

someone mentioned it previously but these albatross supermax contracts are gonna be a problem
― Clay, Tuesday, 1 May 2018 01:46 (five years ago) link
Someone coined a saying a while back to the effect that, if I can't make the payment on my $10,000 auto loan I have a problem, but if I can't make the payment on my $50 million business loan, the bank has a problem. once you give out a supermax contract, the player's ability to deliver on it becomes your problem, not the player's.
― A is for (Aimless), Tuesday, 1 May 2018 01:53 (five years ago) link
indeedit seems like whenever the owners try and slant the CBA in their favor there’s always an unintended consequence that ends up screwing them. a lot of these owners are going to get stuck with albatross contracts or end up having to trade the stars the CBA is supposed to funnel to them for fear of the albatross contract (i.e. boogie cousins)
