ha! i never saw that tweet from Andy. this poll was run a year and a half before i got into XTC, bummed i didn't participate. was curious to see where Snowman placed, #23 sounds right (maybe a little low).

those illustrations are marvellous. it's got me wanting to listen to the albums again (it's been a while).

re the initial poll: i have no fucking idea what i would pick as my favourites because they change almost daily, but the wheel and the maypole would always be top 3. what a way to end a career.

I think I agree. As much as I love half of or most of or some of all the other albums, Black Sea is the only one that's really even in terms of songwriting - quality, sound, and style.

Wouldn't put many of the tracks on a personal best of, but it's the album I'd choose to listen to in full over all the others.
