... And that cheerful, friendly, progressive leader's name? Bashir al Assad! And that, my friends, is the rest of the story.

Seems like if you keep your eyes on the goal and don't look for obstacles that might be in the way, you will end up with a bloody nose.

Yes, one can imagine Trump quaking in his golden slippers at the thought of people starting punk bands.

Sixteen other GOP candidates couldn't stop him, the entire Democrat party couldn't stop him, the Clinton machine couldn't stop him, the leftist media couldn't stop him, and he's evaded the worst (!) legal and judicial witch hunt in history (IN HISTORY!!!!).

Thrashy power chords on a guitar, though? TRASHY CYMBALS? Motherfucker's gonna fold instantly when he hears my incisive lyrics.

it says fight, not stop.

at any rate dropping out of establishment channels to start your own media seems like the way to go. or i guess you can fight by consuming media for and by millionaires.

Joining a Punk band to fight Trump at this point gives me a war re-enactment society feel.

this machine is nostalgia for fascists

I put a "this machine kills fascists" sticker on my guitar case when I was a teenager and some people stopped me while walking down the street to ask how exactly does it do that.

how's life, Tuesday, 24 April 2018 13:02 (five years ago) link

"This machine kills fascists"

"So much for the 'tolerant' left, typical just calling anyone you disagree with a fascist, aren't you more like the real fascist with your intolerance of different viewpoints and black people say it to each other all the time, rappers say it in their songs are you saying i can't say that word because i'm white what is that but blatant &c &c &c"

mh, Sunday, 29 April 2018 00:30 (five years ago) link

I have a friend with a mad father who has a whole nest of bees in his house, in one of the rooms he can no longer enter because it's full of the dead whitegoods he has collected.

OK this shit depends on ones monitor or something right/ I see "shoe that looks vaguely teal but is clearly due to a bad scan so is prob white"

(ie the blue/gold dress BS all over again oh wait that was yr point)

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Monday, 7 May 2018 03:39 (five years ago) link

that's a pink shoe with white stripes but I have notably blah color perception

mh, Monday, 7 May 2018 13:44 (five years ago) link

Haha, I know people were completely done with this the first time around, but I find this color perception stuff interesting. It looks grey with teal to me, and i just can't see it as pink at all.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 7 May 2018 13:53 (five years ago) link

It’s just a bad photo of a shoe

valorous wokelord (silby), Monday, 7 May 2018 14:00 (five years ago) link

reminds me of this dumb project some coworkers are trying to fix: a stationary camera takes pictures of a bunch of samples that have an image that's basically a QR code on the top. at some point, the image recognition got worse, so they're trying to fix it up by filtering/rotating/etc

every smartass is like "yeah, but my phone can scan those easily!" and you have to realize when scanning that kind of thing with a phone, you're moving a camera that's autofocusing around until it gets to a position where it gets it. you're doing the rotating/panning manually

so from a stationary image with blown-out (or in this case, what looks like florescent) lighting, some people will extrapolate based on light, some will pick up the color as captured, and there's just enough variation in color perception that you get another layer of vagueness on top

the only way to tell for sure is to mail me the shoe
