VNYL is back with a new TRNTBL

While it calls itself "wireless," technically this term solely refers to the fact that you don't need to mess with analog cables or outputs in order to connect to a speaker. You do still need to plug a cord into the wall to power your turntable.

The fact that they are featuring ubiquitous dollar bin world champions Chuck Mangione and Joan Baez records in the window, and the fact that this store is in NYC, makes me think this is maybe some kind of elaborate art prank.

years ago i recorded a band and we did the tracking on computer and at the end ran it through someone's reel to reel for a mastering pass to get the tape compression and sort of pre-master the song. its kind of a common technique.

ripoff that they only send you a 16 bit CD quality WAV tho

yeah, people do this. I wonder how often they replace the tape, though.

CD-quality seems scammy, though. Can't imagine people only or mostly do it as a final step. I guess it depends on pricing. Maybe it's fairly cheap and intended for home recordists. I'm sure Jack White has his own steam powered tape machine to use.

i did it with a VHS once. sounded really cool. that's some thick tape.
