Sorry to be such an oaf here, but she really is genuinely very attractive. Very photogenic, at the very least.

I like to imagine the Robyn album acted like a sort of Bat-signal to CRJ that it was OK to finally release something

a happy-sad anthem to masturbation - lacks the lift of her best songs, but good!

video pros: thorough gender, age, race inclusivity; kink positivity; song is pretty goodvideo cons: sponsored by Absolut, Postmates, Calvin Klein; fat people not invited to party of one; mainstreaming of breadfacing

that leaked snippet's a few years old apparently so it may have changed since then, and very low quality, but the melody sounds great and what i can make out of the rest reminds me a lot of kylie at her best

Another snippet. Is it rockist of me to want a whole actual song? Also, should we start a new thread for album 4?

Party For One (the song, not the video) was playing in Journeys Kids when I took my daughter to buy a new pair of shoes this week.

That's surprising. There are still K-Marts?
― MarkoP, Friday, 22 February 2019 16:24 (five years ago) link
Yes, ours is actually pretty well-trafficked for people who don't want to drive the extra 15 minutes to Target. The nearest Wal-Mart is about half an hour away. I mean, it's still doomed and half the time I go there looking for something, they don't have it in stock.

a friend is claiming she saw somewhere the gossip that Jeppo is dropping a full album on 2/27 and not just a song which would be AMAZING but I remain unconvinced that's how this is going to play out, nonetheless I've agreed to keep the evening free just in case
― boxedjoy, Sunday, 24 February 2019 10:33 (five years ago) link
I'm thinking that it would have to be very soon after that at least. The rollout has definitely been weird, what with Party For One coming out in early November and then nothing for months until now. I think that song was ok, but not something that can sustain interest by itself for so long.

don't toy with my emotions like this
― maffew12, Sunday, 24 February 2019 14:34 (five years ago) link
If the whole album is in the vein of Party For One and Now That I Found You, I can't see myself getting real hype about it.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 24 February 2019 14:40 (five years ago) link
Well, if emotion was all in the vein of I Really Like You it wouldn't have been so hot either.
― ☮ (peace, man), Sunday, 24 February 2019 16:27 (five years ago) link
"party for one" is a great song
if the whole album is in the vein of it and a song we've only heard a few clips of, i can see myself getting real hype about it
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Sunday, 24 February 2019 16:53 (five years ago) link
"hyped" though right?
― ☮ (peace, man), Sunday, 24 February 2019 16:59 (five years ago) link

― maffew12, Sunday, 24 February 2019 18:02 (five years ago) link
Oh christ, I'm going to have to go consult urbandictionary.com, aren't I?
― ☮ (peace, man), Sunday, 24 February 2019 18:36 (five years ago) link
Slap is a verb. Bop is a noun.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 24 February 2019 18:37 (five years ago) link
bop as in "she bop" is a verb though, no?
― The immortal Hydra Viridisimma (outdoor_miner), Sunday, 24 February 2019 18:40 (five years ago) link
In modern parlance, bop is somewhat equivalent to what we would call a banger five years ago or a jam 15-20 years ago.
It can still be a verb as well if you wish.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 24 February 2019 18:44 (five years ago) link
What about "getting hype"? It sounds kinda like "you're bias".

xpost "hype" has been used colloquially as an adjective for a while now. might be helpful to compare it to what's happened with "chill" in the past 15-or-so years. also, not sure if you were being facetious about urban dictionary, but it tends to track actual usage pretty well: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hype

In some ways, it was the ideal of what a music-based internet community should be. I never fought with or held a grudge against any single person there for four whole years. It was just at its core about discovery and sharing. It wasn't long for this cruel world.
