what one artist do you like the most that ilm doesn't seem to rate at all

I liked Kingdom of Rust okay. It had some really great highlights.

I'm the same, Scott, still rate those first two Doves albums highly and pretty much fell off with the third which I found quite bland. Recently, I listened to the fourth album to see if I'd missed anything and hadn't really. I like the production on those first two LP's a lot.

Revolution by Chumbawamba is an absolute classic anarcho-punk single but I'm not a big fan of their later stuff. I still have a soft spot for the Anarchy album but that's probably because I was 17 when it came out.

I'm not sure if most ppl (including/especially myself) really have an adequate vocabulary for talking about '50s music, without it turning into just a recitation of facts, historical notes, etc. There's something sui generis about that era which makes it distinct from most of the rest of rock/pop/etc. I could be totally wrong.

Like - I love Bo Diddley, but I'm not I've ever tried to talk/write about his music, or would know what to say. I'm sure there are others who are much better at it than me.

(As in – ppl who are actually good at talking about music. LOL.)

i always feel like ppl should be talking about little richard way more than they do. his classic original stuff feels so revolutionary and subversive and incredible every time i hear it, like it never feels even remotely dated to me. but i think the only time i see him talked about is, like, when ppl do those "100 moments that changed rock" lists. maybe it is just hard to talk about what makes those records so great.

Haven't seen much praise for BT on here, especially for his more recent stuff, but he's still making great music. You just have to be selective about what you listen to

I still rate the first Gay Dad album pretty highly. I doubt they have many other fans on here.

How about Kim Wilde? I'm sure that people rate some of her singles (especially Kids In America), but her first three albums are new wave/pop masterpieces that don't get mentioned a lot. Her first album in particular is incredible. I like it more than Parallel Lines and Eat To The Beat.

I will check out those Kim Wilde records. Kids in America is obv a pop masterpiece of the highest order, was just listening to it yesterday.

I keep meaning to check out Kim's new album. Kandy Krush is ok I guess, the chorus is significantly more enjoyable than the verse. There's much better on the first few albums. Whenever I made CDs or playlists for friends, I would always put on a song or two. You'll Never Be Song Wrong from her debut is my favourite. Sparks, Young Heroes, Falling Out, Chaos At The Airport, Just A Feeling, Wendy Sadd, Shoot To Disable and Tuning In Tuning On (which is basically a Magazine song) are all highlights. I'm really not sure why she's so underrated.

I discovered Solex through the 5 favorite albums thread here a couple of years ago (Low Kick and Hard Bop). Glad I did!

I thought I’d be throwing down the gauntlet by saying I’m a diehard Was (Not Was) fan but a cursory google search reveals a surprising amount of goodwill for them on here.
Maybe if I add on that there was one Frank Turner song I listened to religiously when I was younger (though even then it wasn’t like I was running out to find more from the guy)
