Which word do you believe means longevity, "Donnie" or "baseball"?

DACA Flocka Flame (Hadrian VIII), Tuesday, 17 April 2018 12:49 (six years ago) link

ok, ludicrous moniker for a guy whose gaudy RBI totals were fueled by Rickey Henderson

I knew Rickey was talented but I didn't know he engineered Donnie's OPS, pretty cool

as opposed to a white guy from San Francisco with a laughable mustache I guess

DACA Flocka Flame (Hadrian VIII), Tuesday, 17 April 2018 15:31 (six years ago) link

it was a measure of his greatness that for a while, when someone referred to 'lefty', everyone in both leagues knew they meant steve carlton

if you're gonna call a guy 'baseball', he should probably be a generational talent -- and donnie was merely very good. just ask keith hernandez

mookieproof, Tuesday, 17 April 2018 15:32 (six years ago) link

wtf have any position players ever been referred to as "Lefty"?

DACA Flocka Flame (Hadrian VIII), Tuesday, 17 April 2018 15:35 (six years ago) link

anyway the nickname derives from his makeup, i.e. he would not likely have earned it had he been a coked up clubhouse cancer (ahem)

DACA Flocka Flame (Hadrian VIII), Tuesday, 17 April 2018 15:40 (six years ago) link

i likely wdn't put Keith 17 in the Hall either, but he's only a clubhouse cancer to Whitey Herzog (maybe)

MAKEUP! *powder puff gag*

That throw clip was really impressive both from how it was shot and Judge's throw being that good.

damning the Yankees and America

And certainly none of us wants to be anything like Yankees *fans* — especially after seeing them at close quarters. Certainly, I have witnessed them often enough in Baltimore during weekend series against my beloved Orioles to know the horror in full.

Not that the horror is easy to recall clearly. The trauma is too violent. Memory cringes, whines, tries to slink away. One recollects only a kaleidoscopic flux of gruesomely fragmentary impressions, too outlandish to be perfectly accurate, too vivid to be entirely false: nightmarish revenants from the dim haunts of the collective unconscious … monstrous, abortive shapes emerging from the abysmal murk of evolutionary history … things pre-hominid, even pre-mammalian …

very Metsy

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday that the three-week time frame the team had originally outlined for Aaron Judge's return from a wrist injury was overly optimistic.

"We thought maybe three weeks would cover it, but it's going to be longer than that," Cashman told WFAN 101.9 FM's Mike Francesa in a live radio interview. "So, we missed on the time frame."

As of now, there is no updated timetable.

Coley Harvey, ESPN Staff Writer:

Aaron Boone on Aaron Judge's return, following Andrew McCutchen's signing: "We're still optimistic in the plan. The belief is he'll be back with plenty of time." Boone says he also sees McCutchen as someone who can hit throughout the lineup, but a "definite" leadoff option.
