Watched the video yesterday. Made me die, but I can see why certain teens would be into it. Dunno about the sincerity, though. Dude's shtick seems to wobble around on the line separating horrifying earnestness from sarcastic tongue-in-cheek without committing to either. Which = the internet, I guess. A bad idea whose time has passed.

If Hobo Johnson is "music for young people," does that mean it is above criticism of the music on its own terms? If so, please explain the last 50+ years of music journalism

I wish I could understand the thought process of people who take it upon themselves to publicize their friends' accusations of abuse without seeking their friends' approval beforehand. are they really that desperate for retweets, or have they decided that it's in the public interest to expose the celebrity's behavior regardless of whether the victim consents to the disclosure? either way I don't think it's a constructive contribution to the conversation about abusive public figures, especially when (as in this case) there's such a high likelihood for miscommunication

what is this guy's current status? is he without a record deal, without a band and basically adrift and squandering whatever fan base he built? or is he huge with young people?

it literally could be either one, i have zero idea.
