suc a commitment tho lol

lag∞n, Friday, 23 March 2018 01:40 (six years ago) link

that's what i've heard - that you get much more out of playing longer formats. but it's just so nice to play in these 10 min bursts and not have to worry about games dragging on.

Mordy, Friday, 23 March 2018 01:40 (six years ago) link

yeah u cn play so many games too

lag∞n, Friday, 23 March 2018 01:43 (six years ago) link

I guess reps don’t help so much in chess lol

Mordy, Friday, 23 March 2018 01:49 (six years ago) link

welp just tried a 10+0 and beat a 1620

lag∞n, Friday, 23 March 2018 02:20 (six years ago) link

he did miss me leaving my queen hanging tho

lag∞n, Friday, 23 March 2018 02:20 (six years ago) link

ive played 3 10+0 games and am rated 1675 there, abt to get repeatedly owned lol

lag∞n, Friday, 23 March 2018 02:23 (six years ago) link

lol yeah when i first started playing 10m my score was ridiculously high for 3-4 games and then it came down to earth

Mordy, Friday, 23 March 2018 02:24 (six years ago) link

amazing to beat a 1675 tho and sounds like an uncharacteristic mistake at that level of play

Mordy, Friday, 23 March 2018 02:25 (six years ago) link

oh nm i misread

Mordy, Friday, 23 March 2018 02:25 (six years ago) link

my blitz ratings on all the chess sites:

Chess.com: 1156
Lichess: 1355

My aim is to be world champion by 2020.

cajunsunday, Saturday, 24 March 2018 22:25 (six years ago) link

same, i will see u in the candidates tournament

lag∞n, Saturday, 24 March 2018 22:36 (six years ago) link

thats quite a spread between the two sites btw whats goin on there

lag∞n, Saturday, 24 March 2018 22:37 (six years ago) link

lichess ratings tend to be higher than Chess.com for some reason. Something to do with a different pool of players.

cajunsunday, Saturday, 24 March 2018 22:47 (six years ago) link

i was curious abt that a lil while ago and read some online threads on the topic and there didnt seem to be any real consensus as to which site is harder

lag∞n, Saturday, 24 March 2018 22:51 (six years ago) link

lol youre not even allowed to talk about it on the chess.com forums

david #9 Oct 6, 2017
Mentions are okay if it's about a game you played there recently or something like that. Any comparisons, however, are not okay, and unfortunately asking how ratings there compare to ratings here is included in that. Chess.com policy is that any such comparison is not allowed in our own forums - it's a matter of it leading to claims and counter claims and arguments that are essentially irreconcilable, much like politics or religion.

I am now locking this thread.

Thanks,

David, moderator

or maybe there is idk https://www.quora.com/How-inflated-are-the-online-chess-ratings-offered-by-lichess-org

lag∞n, Saturday, 24 March 2018 22:56 (six years ago) link

anyway theres no way im playing on a site that gives me fewer points

lag∞n, Saturday, 24 March 2018 22:56 (six years ago) link

lol maybe I should switch

Mordy, Saturday, 24 March 2018 22:58 (six years ago) link

the first rule of chess.com is don't talk about lichess

cajunsunday, Saturday, 24 March 2018 23:07 (six years ago) link

the second rule of chess.com is that the horseys jump in an L-shape

the opposite of feeling terrible bc you lost on time when you had pieces up is winning with only 13 seconds left on the clock when your opponent has 5 min left but he blundered a bunch of pieces away bc he was trying to force a win on time

Mordy, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 19:30 (six years ago) link

cracks me up when someone starts losing and then they wait til there's almost no time left on the clock for every single move in order to drag it out

hopefully i can find a way to chill and notice if im making "holes" and "weaknesses"

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 April 2018 00:11 (six years ago) link

won again with 19:17 left this time, feel like the longer games might be softer than blitz on lichess i just mopped up a 1620, seems like the players minds are just moving slower rather than taking the time to make better moves, tho in this game i thought i had my opponent trapped and he managed to dig his way out after a long think, maybe training yrself to think fast in blitz then taking time to think in longer time controls is the way to go, just have to have enough discipline to actually take the time to think lol

maybe doing jerry style thinking out loud wld help, have some stock questions u ask yrself and so forth
