i was just recommending 4L to someone yesterday. idk if it's quite as funny or insightful as ppl claim but it's pretty unique imo in its subject matter and its handling of subject matter.

It's a good movie but I was a bit disappointed by how naturalistic it is compared to his more structurally inventive TV work. I understand that's probably adequate for the story he wanted to tell tho.

I held Nathan Barley about as high as Brass Eye for a long time.

Nathan Barley was decent but I can't agree with that assessment at all. Also it's only directed by Morris iirc.

Funnily enough I rewatched the Crime episode of brass eye last night - I love how it can be so absurdly broad and yet minutely memetic within the same sketch. This Ted Maul segment on youth crime ends with an interview with a family on benefits that is practically identical to most UK media treatment of the unemployed in 2018

They did the tv version tho, Jaaaaam (or some number of a's I forget), it's good even tho a lot is rehashes of the radio. I think they actually lip-sync radio bits which makes it even dreamier and creepy

I might be in the minority but I prefer a lot of The Day Today to Brass Eye, the tone has aged slightly better imo, but really it's all top-tier
