Liverpool fans seem to have wiped the 5-0 defeat at City from their memories

groovypanda, Friday, 16 March 2018 11:47 (six years ago) link

I like this draw tbh.

Barca
Bayern
Juve
City

On the contrary. Tho I can't vouch for the Liverpool fans you've interviewed obv

Unfortunate timing for the Arse and their travelling support (if they have any) and disappointed the two Red Bulls aren't facing up to one another:

Arsenal vs CSKA Moscow
Atletico Madrid vs Sporting Lisbon
Lazio vs RB Salzburg
RB Leipzig vs Marseille

should be a few good Novichok-related chants if anybody can find a decent rhyme

Heh. RIP Arsenal iirc.

Google Atheist (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 16 March 2018 12:51 (six years ago) link

(not a chant, but a prediction of the match tbh)

Google Atheist (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 16 March 2018 12:51 (six years ago) link

Chants from Arsenal fans? What are the chances?

not even a pristine photograph like that will ever get me to care one fuck about Ronaldo: spoiler of football, destroyer of the fine game. He introduced vanity into football like the devil introduced himself into the holy bible iirc.

I...don't know what to feel right now

Number None, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 19:19 (six years ago) link

this is great fun. Gundogan wide on the right an unexpected misstep. Without sane and sterling stretching play on both flanks there's just not enough on when city get on the ball

~calamitygammon~, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 19:21 (six years ago) link

Pep is scared of Klopp, no doubt

Number None, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 19:21 (six years ago) link

Obviously barely matters what city do up top if they're going to defend like this

~calamitygammon~, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 19:22 (six years ago) link

I heard some tool on 5 live pre KO saying that Mo Salah would just be a squad player at City.

calzino, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 19:28 (six years ago) link

how did they let a non-Liverpool fan sneak on 5 Live?

All four of next week’s second legs are going to be a formality at this rate.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:02 (six years ago) link

2nd top goalscorer for Barca in their CL campaign is own goal.

calzino, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:08 (six years ago) link

some almost delightful Morbsian wordplay from a city fan on 5 live: Fraudolia Must Go!

calzino, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 21:07 (six years ago) link

Still don't think Liverpool are there just quite yet, but this is p huge.

ogmor, Thursday, 5 April 2018 07:04 (six years ago) link

can see it being 6-3 at the etihad, liverpool to go through

i'm surprised to see your screwface at the door (NickB), Thursday, 5 April 2018 08:36 (six years ago) link

Xpost They do! I fancy Liverpool to get an away goal that will swing it in their favour though

well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Thursday, 5 April 2018 08:36 (six years ago) link

de bruyne will have put in some beastings to pip salah for player of the season now

ogmor, Thursday, 5 April 2018 09:22 (six years ago) link

Massive credit to Klopp - the only manager this season who has gone up against Guardiola twice in succession, fearlessly played his own game, taken him on and beaten him - the second time more resoundingly than the first.

Given the interstellar level that City have been at or that everyone's agreed they've been at - it's an extraordinary achievement.

City, 2017-18 City, of all teams, didn't have a shot on target last night? That can't have happened before.

the pinefox, Thursday, 5 April 2018 09:31 (six years ago) link

I'm getting annoyed by all the online whinging saying City didn't turn up at all. Liverpool got an early goal, nullified their threat and did a solid defensive job imo

well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Thursday, 5 April 2018 11:33 (six years ago) link

ppl cannot grasp that opponents affect how teams can play, its always a case of losig teams just not trying hard enough to be present

ogmor, Thursday, 5 April 2018 11:34 (six years ago) link

Klopp has beaten Guardiola more than any other manager iirc. City have always been vulnerable at the back, it's just that most teams aren't able to get the ball off them for long enough to find out.

Matt DC, Thursday, 5 April 2018 12:15 (six years ago) link

it's just that most teams aren't able to get the ball off them for long enough to find out.

Was watching on a shitty stream but iirc at least 2 of the goals last night came from City losing possession cheaply

groovypanda, Thursday, 5 April 2018 12:38 (six years ago) link

klopp has the best record against guardiola, who has only beaten him 5 times. but yes, the more general point is that pressing makes your opponents look bad. i've seen a few ppl say how spurs' victory over real was diminished bc real were off the pace without considering what that really meant
