Yeah the news on Wright is upsetting. 8 more weeks of non baseball activity.

I think Cespedes will be fine? Also Nimmo has been really good this spring, may be hard to send him back down to AAA when Conforto is back. If 1B is not working out, could shift Bruce over there.

no one expects a Wright comeback, do they

I kind of expect one more September pinch hit appearance, at least for show/for the fans.

If they put Montero on waivers, would anyone else want him? Same with Robles. Kind of feel the Mets should risk it, it seems like every other pitcher in the running has been better/more auspicious than them this spring.

Michael F Gill, Thursday, 15 March 2018 17:51 (six years ago) link

wouldn't really call that a 'risk'. he's 27 and terrible and there's nothing to be gained by wasting a 25-man roster spot on him in the hopes that he someday figures it out

Jason Vargas has a fracture in his glove hand after taking a comebacker. Rub dirt on it.

Vargas on DL could mean first-ever rotation turn for the Golden Five

Montero has torn his UCL and will be out all year, so I guess that answers that nagging question for now.

Michael F Gill, Thursday, 22 March 2018 17:35 (six years ago) link

icymi, Zack Wheeler was optioned to Vegas; Seth Lugo in the opening rotation.

Phillip Evans made the roster as a utility infielder.

I was not expecting a sweep of the Nats.

Mets' MLB bullpen ranks (out of 30):

ERA: 1.31 (2nd)
Saves: 5 (1st)
AVG against: .160 (1st)
OBP against: .265 (4th)
SLG against: .252 (5th)
K/9: 10.75 (3rd)
WHIP: 1.02 (5th)

Super enjoying this team so far. Lugo and Gsellman in the bullpen has been quite a weapon. Can't wait to see more of Rosario (despite the wild free swinging) & Nimmo.
