Only a total tit like Schnabel would want such a smug Oldman portrayal of himself like that with such a shit accent!

calzino, Monday, 12 March 2018 17:49 (six years ago) link

ddl comes from such posh luvvie stock(maternal granddad Ealing bigwig, dad a former poet laureate) no wonder he can't be arsed working anymore, he's got poetry to write!

calzino, Monday, 12 March 2018 17:51 (six years ago) link

I'm sure Gary Oldman's been good in something but I've never seen it.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Monday, 12 March 2018 17:57 (six years ago) link

Prick Up Your Ears is pretty ace, but it's not all about his performance.

calzino, Monday, 12 March 2018 17:58 (six years ago) link

he's better than tricky in the fifth element

mark s, Monday, 12 March 2018 17:58 (six years ago) link

High praise. I suppose he's not bad in PUYE.

Buff Jeckley (Tom D.), Monday, 12 March 2018 18:00 (six years ago) link

wait are people suggesting his american accent has been good in anything? it hasn't, it's always very bad

mark s, Monday, 12 March 2018 18:03 (six years ago) link

Tricky in the Fifth Element is a lot better than Eddie Izzard in the '98 Avengers movie.

irish hall of fame goes to colm meaney in hell on wheels. one of my favorite american characters of all time. he was so great in that and that part was made for him. maybe i should just consider him an american actor by now.

Over my dead body you will.

Gary Oldman admits that his regular accent is so weird now that he had to have a dialogue coach for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

trishyb, Monday, 12 March 2018 18:08 (six years ago) link

"i would like to sound exactly like alec guinness in tinker, tailor, soldier, spy but be able to say without blushing that i had never listened to his performance"

charlie hunnam going to start a fight itt

the poster's anxiety at the suggested ban (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 12 March 2018 18:23 (six years ago) link

idk i always thought his american accent was not great

piper at the gates of d'awwww (voodoo chili), Monday, 12 March 2018 18:27 (six years ago) link

charlie hunnam's american accent is inextricably linked to the specific tone of voice. he can do multiple tones in his own accent, but he only can do the calm growling thing in american

mh, Monday, 12 March 2018 18:35 (six years ago) link

i did enjoy his OTT accent in Leon. and his performance. which was a ham sandwich delight.

scott seward, Monday, 12 March 2018 19:18 (six years ago) link

you see, we are fighting now
