Somewhere along the way it morphed into 'shpock it' repeated ad nauseum

Looks like money supermarket got fed up of paying actors to be he-man / skeletor.

I'm in a pub and some absolute cunts are repeatedly shouting dilly dilly. Reconsidering my position on the death penalty

Colonel Poo, Friday, 16 March 2018 23:07 (six years ago) link

i'd like to thank the Quorn Marketing Board for reading this thread and dubbing out Alan Davies's voice from your advert. the advert and the product are still shit, but i appreciate the gesture.

Cambridge Metallica (Noodle Vague), Friday, 23 March 2018 18:41 (six years ago) link

am i dense for not understanding the 'posh dip' ad? I think I reflexively shut down and stop listening but Mr kinder asked me how it made sense and I didn't know.

kinder, Sunday, 25 March 2018 18:07 (six years ago) link

I assume "posh dip" is a nod at healthy eating, in a bourgeois style, so the point is let them eat let ketchup because the moral purity of Quorn will cover you. But that's the annoyingness of the advert

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 25 March 2018 18:36 (six years ago) link

that's what i thought! but had remembered it as 'healthy dip' when I tried to explain it, not 'posh', which would make sense. But I watched it again (I deserve everything I get) and saw it said posh and posh =/= healthy so I was baffled once again.

I'm reading this to Mr k right now and he's just shaking his head muttering 'it's so, so, shit'. Sorry, Quorn Marketing Board.

kinder, Sunday, 25 March 2018 23:07 (six years ago) link

Posh = code innit?

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 25 March 2018 23:44 (six years ago) link

is this the thread where I express my bottomless dislike for the inescapable avoiders for [LARGE CLIPART OF A ROOSTER, TEEHEE] "Blockers"

aloha darkness my old friend (katherine), Monday, 26 March 2018 12:45 (six years ago) link

speaking of posh, i meant to post this aldi ad when it was inescapable a couple of months ago - feels like there's a dissertation's worth of class signifiers in here

Katherine, I was going to direct you to the US thread here because I had no idea what you're talking about but apparently it's a film so we'll probably get it here eventually

Colonel Poo, Monday, 26 March 2018 13:09 (six years ago) link

It's already here and I was gonna make a snidey Facebook post about it this weekend. Katherine otm, another milestone on the road to the collapse of western civilization

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Monday, 26 March 2018 13:12 (six years ago) link

bg the latest aldi add with the baroque caricature of smug posh woman in the lift is another level

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Monday, 26 March 2018 13:13 (six years ago) link

huh, hadn't seen the lift one before but just looked it up on youtube

forget a dissertation, there's probably a whole book to be written on aldi using class consciousness in ads to bolster their bottom line

we gather in social groups and disorient ourselves (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 26 March 2018 13:22 (six years ago) link

hey advertising guys, maybe knock it off with the 70s funk on every other fucking ad?

also why the fuck does cooking = big band swing?

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 31 March 2018 22:41 (six years ago) link

Hey Brooke the artist from the film industry why do you laugh after everything you say even when it's not funny?

bad left terf nut (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 1 April 2018 00:08 (six years ago) link

You just dont expect to hear raining blood by slayer on an advert

do all the alexas in the world respond to all those alexa adverts?

koogs, Thursday, 19 April 2018 10:37 (five years ago) link

Enough with the fucking poetry. It's spreading now, not just Nationwide, now we have Giff Gaff to contend with.

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 19 April 2018 12:10 (five years ago) link

^^ can't handle the authentic voice of the streets

you're my luger not my rifle (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 19 April 2018 12:16 (five years ago) link

The single-shot film is beautiful in its simplicity. A young woman stood in front of a parked car in a nondescript setting delivers a thought-provoking monologue exploring the advantages of ‘small’ and challenging the conventional idea that ‘big’ is always better. The camera slowly zooms towards the simply-dressed protagonist as Siouxsie & The Banshees’ 1978 classic ‘Hong Kong Garden’ gradually becomes more audible.

been compulsively reading ad industry sites the last few weeks, they really are a whole higher level

you're my luger not my rifle (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 19 April 2018 12:20 (five years ago) link

That advert is particularly dire, poetrywise.

(Henry) Green container bin with face (Tom D.), Thursday, 19 April 2018 12:30 (five years ago) link

... written by some berk at Giff Gaff and read by an actress, some googling tells me. Are fake poets worse than real ones though?

Hi charity wankers we know it's not nice when people are cruel to animals you can knock it off with the weepy saddo voiceover

Not sure if you can see this as my friend filmed it off the TV but this Farm Foods ad with Hasselhoff holding court at the dinner table with a bunch of 20-something Geordies is something else. I keep watching it hoping to glean some sort of sense and well...
