Coint & Plick 2017 - ILX's best video games of the year - SEND ME YR BALLOTS (Deadline: March 30)

What are the best games of 2017? In ILX's eleventh Coint & Plick poll, ballots work similar to Pazz & Jop; you have 100 points to allocate, and may give as few as 1 or as many as 30 points to any game. Ballots are due in a little over three weeks (Friday, March 30) and the rollout will begin shortly after.

There are three ways to vote!

a) Make a copy of this spreadsheet, fill it out, and e-mail me the spreadsheet (ps2ilxⓐgmail.com)
b) Use the spreadsheet (above) and enter the "copy/paste" line into this Google Form.
c) Manually make your ballot, spacing your number of points and your game with " /// " (e.g. 30 /// Minesweeper), each game on a new line, and e-mail it to me (ps2ilxⓐgmail.com)

You can find the complete list of titles in the second tab of the spreadsheet.

Please also include, if you choose, your disappointment of 2017 and your non-2017 game of 2017, as well as your top 3 platforms of 2017.

If you require a write-in, fine, do it, but seriously, where were you for the last month of nominations? Get out there, play games, vote for them, and have fun! Let's try to get those ballots in on time!

we were considering a new voting system i thought? abandoned? i don't love how this system encourages restricting your votes to fewer games. is there something wrong with having up to 10 votes scoring 10>1 pts? not up on my point allocation theory but that sounds better to me on the surface?

I was thinking about it, and while this system isn't perfect, it's got about as many problems as any other system, and besides if you wanna vote for that many games you can actually go up to 13 games at 13, 12, ... 3, 2, 1 and still have some points left over. this voting system is especially egregious when we only have like 15 voters or whatever we're gonna rustle up this year, but at least this way we have some way to compare to previous years?

if you want to do a top 10, the most linear way to scale the points is 19 17 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1

I'm in the middle of Yakuza 0 and I'm hoping to play some Odyssey before I vote but if I don't I'll still definitely be voting.

as usual, though, i played way more 2015-16 games in 2017 than i did 2017 games. and my #1 game of the moment (cinco paus) came out in the first weeks of january 2018.

I'm planning on voting but still have like 5-6 games that I nominated but haven't played yet that I wanna try out before the deadline.

usually it's 5 to break in, or at least that's how i've done it for a while, but i might lower that bar this year depending on the last votes (aka if you give 9 games 1 point each i will probably not do the 1 pt games)

before this poll i had forgotten the Dark Souls III DLC came out last year. going back and playing that again was a real treat. it has some of the best level design in the game -- feel like they really went out with a bang!
