why couldn't he find some cool HBO show for himself?

this guy is probably one of the few actors who i thought was pretty cool and just did a complete 180 and went to shit

he seems to have some interesting ideas but they don't transfer over to his actual work/characters

i feel like he doesn't have a place in nu-Hollywood. He should do the TV show route or show up in a Marvel movie, i guess those are the remaining two options for any actor now.

he looks like he plays a lot of poker in vegas or something. he's not THAT old.

I loved him as Nixon in The Butler, would happily watch an John-Cusack-as-Nixon mini-series on HBO.

There's an old Hollywood maxim that you can only play what you're offered. And when he was a medium-wattage movie star, when it came to producing his own stuff it eventually ended with the very underwhelming War, Inc.

Anyway the guy had a p decent run for 20 years beginning in '85. I didn't like the films that Cronenberg and Spike Lee cast him in, but as long as he's on the radar of guys like that he should be OK for character parts.
