The landlord of a local pub apparently roadied for the Upstarts amongst others (I assume Big Audio Dynamite since he's got loads of posters of them on the walls). He's got Peter & The Test Tube Babies, Charlie Harper of the UK Subs and John Otway to play gigs there in the last year or so. I don't actually go out drinking locally because I don't know anyone here but I could ask him to join ILX next time they have some ancient creaking punks play at his pub.

i think a key turning point for me is the moment an old thread comes up on something you have an opinion on, you log in to post your opinion, and then you discover you posted the exact same opinion in that exact same thread three years ago. that's offputting.

As my opinions can often change or almost certainly refine on certain issues ilx has proved to be almost a diary that keeps a log on my thinking - mostly on certain films, music or books.

I remember always saying in infinity that ILE was so much better than ILM and people saying "they are the "same thing"". But whatever. I learned within the first year that I don't care about other people's musical opinions because they suck more than their other opinions usually. And when you were trying to sell music you have to just giggle and pretend they know better.

ymmv on ILM but the rolling metal threads helped reinvigorate me into the metal scene. I'd drifted from the scene a bit in the late 2000s to where when I when I dipped my toes back into the water around 2009, I was lost as to what was out there now. the rolling threads helped me re-connect with the things I liked.

but the Genesis threads infuriated me
