lol i've been watching this on showtime since it started and had no idea it was a web series before, totally missed this thread for 4 years .

this last episode was great
i had some unfortunately shrooms experiences in college, one involved being at the mall while my roommate and her friend from high school went shopping at the gap
anyway it captured some of the terror of being on shrooms in the wrong environment

i liked when he said "you get to see inside the apartments, that's the best part" bc i think i would agree, w/ this show in general i like the very real glimpses into other folks' lives & spaces

i grinned so big at that line and his delivery of it

if we stuck with his stand-in the show would be... stoners in cars buying weed

That was great, also I was losing it at the fountain scene & the end slo-mo dancing it front of it.

Also appreciated the nod to their audience being mostly people with their parents' HBO Go passwords. Like me. My mother-in-law recently cancelled her cable but HBO Go is still mysteriously working, although I assume it will stop any day now.

for some reason I didn't even register the irony at the time, even though I was watching the episode on HBO Go!

My favourite show on television, hard to find something else which feels so relevant atm

I like how organic things seem. A lot of shows trying to catch the same vibe try too hard to cram in references to lifestyle trends or add drama and HM just seems like ~lyfe~

when the last EP started it felt like a black mirror redux

this season was really good, i think it maybe fell off slightly after some of the peaks mid-season but all in all i thought it was way better than the vimeo subscriptions series and the first hbo season

captured that open-ended relaxed festiveness of eclipse day 2017 really well

did I miss where beth had ghosted on him? things were all askew for me since I watched season 1, then almost all of season 2, then the web series, then the last two episodes of season 2, so i got some things totally out of order.

Is Beth the dudes ex? They split in season 1 finale iirc

I was not down with the internet addiction guy's apartment burning down as the punchline, wtf.

Also was expecting the Guy to freak out about being on camera when meeting the crazy dance marathon lady.

as someone who recently planned a lakeside marriage proposal that didn’t quite go exactly as i’d expected and yet still had a happy ending, i very much appreciated the finale

one of the things that's nice about this show is that ultimately, pretty much everyone on the show is good. or trying to do good. at least...nothing has a dark underbelly. i appreciate that, it's refreshing in prestige TV.

I always liked works of fiction where there's no real bad guy and everyone's just doing their best but bad shit still happens because of misunderstandings etc. because I thought it was more "realistic"--it wasn't until relatively recently that I discovered that real, cartoonishly villainous bad guys are actually everywhere in real life

(sorry, kind of apropos of nothing, need to catch up on this show, haven't tuned in since the web series)

Last episode was great

I find this show very touching, I think in part due to its contast to so prestige TV

Like, I wish all these characters the best and I hope it all works out for them

This season was full of touching moments you don't get with other TV shows. The scene with The Guy and the elderly man suffering from dementia who couldn't find his key was heartbreaking.

The scene where the doctor saves the dude choking on the tuna brought me to tears. Show is refreshingly non jaded and often life affirming

even when someone's a jerk, the plot never really dwells on it. some people are jerks, who cares!

this show is underrated

great first episode; big fan of Erin Markey and glad to see her get to do an understated turn in the b plot

Show has been very good so far.

i've only watched a few episodes this season, mostly good! the film set one (which i didn't finish yet) seems a little insular and annoying, too many "busy people talking busily while walking" scenes but maybe it gets better by the end

I'm finding that i prefer episodes that are quite the guy heavy.

Enjoying this season but I'm not sure how I feel about the Guy being a well-rounded human being with emotional needs, etc. In fact, I would say I'm against it.

"breathwork" is a terrible episode

yeah i thought it sucked.

eh, i've spent time both on location shoots and at Grand Prospect Hall where that filmed so I was amused by the verisimilitude. plus i always have time for Amy Ryan (and Jo Firestone!)
but yes, it was by far the weakest of the pack thus far. Still better than most!

past couple weeks have been next level great IMO.
