i think the scoop holds a tablespoon? will check.

this makes 4 cups. use this same ratio when i make less coffee

one mistake was this week i got 8 o'clock garbage coffee and it's like ground up pennies or something, but it was bad before that

oh geez--do you mean chock full of nuts? my #1 piece of advice=buy the very best coffee you can afford. like buy the shit that smells like drugs. it should be a rich blackish color, not pale brown maxwell house shit

i like irish coffee

it's strong, but not too strong. no one has ever complained (besides mother in law, who just jokes about it). it's not bitter, either.

i like strong, black, not acidic, chocolaty-ish

i don't grind my beans--i buy preground or grind at the store. bug poop never hurt anyone

i have been grinding my own lately but usually i don't. it makes a mess and is not very consistent grind. i have a cheap krups coffee grinder. i don't know where whole foods is but maybe i have to go there. why can't i just go to safeway?! geez what an ordeal

i think eating a ground up cockroach is pretty safe though

que if you grind at the store from whole beans you should be ok. it's that the beans that are being ground and pre-packaged sit in the processing areas/warehouses and bugs get in (kind of unavoidable).

i have a mr. coffee grinder and it has worked like a dream for like 9 years!

so the reason they talked about it on this gross show was because the guest had a colleague who had developed a cockroach allergy (apparently all people will with enough exposure) and could no longer drink coffee unless it was from freshly ground beans (not preground) and so he made dude drive all over the place to find fresh ground coffee when they were out on trips doing research or whatever. maybe it was just a cruel joke from boss to employee?

I have trouble finding the right balance of coffee and sugar(I tend to make it too sweet). Out of convenience, I buy Starbucks' ground coffee. I know there are a lot of specialty coffee brands available online, but I have no idea what's good and what's pedestrian-to-terrible.

I can't stand coffee with sugar either. And I don't mean because I have a sugar-substitute instead.

yeah, black. i only ever put milk in it if it tastes burnt (like if it is from starbucks). if there's sugar in it i can't finish it at all.

I use 1% milk but never sugar.

Sometimes splenda but that's only if I'm having it as a dessert or something.

u could prob find good coffee locally that is not starbucks btw--my friend orders from deansbeans.com in MA but if you don't buy enough at a time the shipping can cost as much as the coffee. whole foods is not convenient to get to but i went to different grocery store and found some that is good and costs the same as safeway crap. i am happy now. the last few weeks i have been just wanting to take a nap all day :(

Keurig has little hot chocolate pods now, and it comes out really gross. They actually found a way to screw up hot chocolate.
