it prob matters to the university of louisville
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 17:23 (six years ago) link
they have to take down a banner, but it ultimately doesn't matter--everyone remembers what happened, and there will be plenty of record of Louisville's win, even if it's not written in the official record books
― T'Chadwick (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 17:57 (six years ago) link
sports records are perhaps less thoroughly kept and preserved than the records of our criminal courts. in this way, louisville has strengthened its legacy.

Based on a filing obtained by @ShaunKing the NCAA defense counsel in the Poppy suit is using a prisoner exemption in the 13th amendment — which abolished slavery — to allow the NCAA to not compensate athletes by using prison labor as precedent. https://t.co/abQ0wguUym— Jared Weiss (@JaredWeissNBA) February 22, 2018

A plan is expected to include the NBA starting relationships with elite teenagers while they are in high school, providing skills to help them develop both on and off the court. It would ultimately open an alternate path to the NBA besides playing in college and a way 18-year-olds could earn a meaningful salary either from NBA teams or as part of an enhanced option in the developmental G League, sources said.http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/22615784/nba-making-plans-get-involved-high-school-level-once-again-espn

― lag∞n, Monday, 5 March 2018 17:40 (six years ago) link
particularly w the g league up and running theres really no need to have college in the loop anymore, also it wld be good if the nbas involvement with high school players got to the level where it prevented guys from shooting from the wrong side of their heads
― lag∞n, Monday, 5 March 2018 17:42 (six years ago) link
tho prob from a marketing standpoint still nothing will ever be better than a two and done rule
― lag∞n, Monday, 5 March 2018 17:44 (six years ago) link
they will have to up the salaries pretty significantly cos you know, you could get 100k + from Arizona... vs only 26k current max g league salary.
college hoops should be for dudes that stick around for 4 years and that (at the most) have a minor shot to play overseas.
― they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Monday, 5 March 2018 17:49 (six years ago) link
the best high school players shd just get drafted like in the garnett days but you can still give them run in the g league if theyre not ready for grown man minutes, and then yeah raise the G league salaries for non nba players/two way contract guys to compete w foreign leagues/illicit ncaa money, and regardless of competition they shd just be paying these guys a living wage
― lag∞n, Monday, 5 March 2018 17:55 (six years ago) link
maybe tack on a year to the rookie contracts of straight out of high school players to allow teams more time to develop them idk

yeah think you would have to

Cleveland State (12-22) scores 61 point in the second half to beat the #1 seed in their conference tourney then beat Oakland in semi finals 44-43. Play for the championship tonight vs Wright State. A win would put them in the NCAA tournament I think?

btw it is absurd that the big ten and ACC had their tournaments in NYC this year (and even more absurd that the big ten went a week early because the big east is having its proper tourney at MSG now)
yay let's invite our fans to spend most of a week in a really expensive city that famously doesn't care about college sports

there used to be a certain attachment to syracuse hoops in NYC, but rather less when they're finishing 11th in a league dominated by teams hundreds of miles away
lol at the big ten thinking adding rutgers would make NYC care
