dude's friendship with the guy in this ep was great

kolakube (Ross), Monday, 12 February 2018 22:28 (six years ago) link

baruch's dancing style was inspirational

mh, Tuesday, 13 February 2018 00:49 (six years ago) link

i think he gave that chick a drink he found in the men's room, ew

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Tuesday, 13 February 2018 00:52 (six years ago) link

lol yes, I was thinking how bad that was, but dude's broke and uh... yeah I'll ignore that happened

mh, Tuesday, 13 February 2018 00:54 (six years ago) link

show is transforming in to something kind of new and different

i still don't like it as much as the best web series eps, but i still like it

gr8080, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 17:54 (six years ago) link

they did a great job of capturing the tedious yet anxious dread of sitting in the ER triage area

mh, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 17:57 (six years ago) link

they really did

marcos, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 17:58 (six years ago) link

yeah i liked the last episode a lot, best of season so far imo

does anyone else worry w/that IV drip of painkillers? like the way he refused it at first...i wonder if he has a history?

It's not delivery, it's Adorno! (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 20 February 2018 18:07 (six years ago) link

I think it was more that he figured he'd just vape up discreetly, but that ended up actually ramping up his anxiety. Peeling up the bandage to take a peek sure didn't help.

mh, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 19:44 (six years ago) link

tbh opioids freak me out, the addictive potential is scray

marcos, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 19:47 (six years ago) link

*scary

marcos, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 19:47 (six years ago) link

I think the potential's there, it's mostly chronic pain management where you get in trouble

I've been prescribed them three times (wisdom tooth removal, abscess surgery, broken wrist) and never felt the need to continue after my prescription ran out because the pain was gone or manageable. the first two were vicodin and the last was percocet, though, and wow there's a difference. hospital would probably just be a morphine drip

mh, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 19:51 (six years ago) link

appreciated how he was goofy as heck on the combination, it was well-acted

mh, Tuesday, 20 February 2018 19:52 (six years ago) link

Beruch episode might be my all time fave

kolakube (Ross), Friday, 23 February 2018 20:29 (six years ago) link

yea agreed it's one of the best ones

marcos, Friday, 23 February 2018 22:24 (six years ago) link

nice use of weyes blood in the last one (w drugdealer)

kolakube (Ross), Saturday, 24 February 2018 01:35 (six years ago) link

i think this season is better than all the others

marcos, Tuesday, 27 February 2018 15:06 (six years ago) link

lol i've been watching this on showtime since it started and had no idea it was a web series before, totally missed this thread for 4 years .

(•̪●) (carne asada), Tuesday, 27 February 2018 15:10 (six years ago) link

this last episode was great
i had some unfortunately shrooms experiences in college, one involved being at the mall while my roommate and her friend from high school went shopping at the gap
anyway it captured some of the terror of being on shrooms in the wrong environment

It's not delivery, it's Adorno! (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 27 February 2018 15:28 (six years ago) link

i liked when he said "you get to see inside the apartments, that's the best part" bc i think i would agree, w/ this show in general i like the very real glimpses into other folks' lives & spaces

marcos, Tuesday, 27 February 2018 18:29 (six years ago) link

i grinned so big at that line and his delivery of it

gr8080, Tuesday, 27 February 2018 18:36 (six years ago) link

if we stuck with his stand-in the show would be... stoners in cars buying weed

mh, Tuesday, 27 February 2018 18:36 (six years ago) link

also lol @ "janky clown" setup

gr8080, Tuesday, 27 February 2018 18:37 (six years ago) link

That was great, also I was losing it at the fountain scene & the end slo-mo dancing it front of it.

change display name (Jordan), Wednesday, 28 February 2018 18:12 (six years ago) link

"What happened?"

"People didn't want these clothes anymore?"

change display name (Jordan), Wednesday, 28 February 2018 18:15 (six years ago) link

Also appreciated the nod to their audience being mostly people with their parents' HBO Go passwords. Like me. My mother-in-law recently cancelled her cable but HBO Go is still mysteriously working, although I assume it will stop any day now.

change display name (Jordan), Wednesday, 28 February 2018 18:17 (six years ago) link

for some reason I didn't even register the irony at the time, even though I was watching the episode on HBO Go!

mh, Wednesday, 28 February 2018 19:04 (six years ago) link

My favourite show on television, hard to find something else which feels so relevant atm

kolakube (Ross), Wednesday, 28 February 2018 21:37 (six years ago) link

I like how organic things seem. A lot of shows trying to catch the same vibe try too hard to cram in references to lifestyle trends or add drama and HM just seems like ~lyfe~

mh, Wednesday, 28 February 2018 21:51 (six years ago) link

absolutely, mh.

wtf was with his ex stealing his pens and being a general fiend? made me wonder if pot co-dependency was a crutch in their relationship

kolakube (Ross), Saturday, 3 March 2018 17:02 (six years ago) link

sometimes this show gives me #fomo

marcos, Wednesday, 7 March 2018 20:41 (six years ago) link

Last episode was golden. Definite tear recipe

kolakube (Ross), Tuesday, 13 March 2018 03:22 (six years ago) link

when the last EP started it felt like a black mirror redux

tinnitus the night (Ross), Saturday, 17 March 2018 16:11 (six years ago) link

this season was really good, i think it maybe fell off slightly after some of the peaks mid-season but all in all i thought it was way better than the vimeo subscriptions series and the first hbo season

marcos, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 18:36 (six years ago) link

captured that open-ended relaxed festiveness of eclipse day 2017 really well

marcos, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 18:36 (six years ago) link

did I miss where beth had ghosted on him? things were all askew for me since I watched season 1, then almost all of season 2, then the web series, then the last two episodes of season 2, so i got some things totally out of order.

akm, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 18:43 (six years ago) link

Is Beth the dudes ex? They split in season 1 finale iirc

tinnitus the night (Ross), Tuesday, 27 March 2018 19:35 (six years ago) link

yeah I guess I just forgot...the last one I clearly remember is when she walked the dog

akm, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 22:03 (six years ago) link

I was not down with the internet addiction guy's apartment burning down as the punchline, wtf.

change display name (Jordan), Wednesday, 28 March 2018 20:03 (six years ago) link

Also was expecting the Guy to freak out about being on camera when meeting the crazy dance marathon lady.

change display name (Jordan), Wednesday, 28 March 2018 20:03 (six years ago) link

as someone who recently planned a lakeside marriage proposal that didn’t quite go exactly as i’d expected and yet still had a happy ending, i very much appreciated the finale

gr8080, Wednesday, 28 March 2018 21:53 (six years ago) link

one of the things that's nice about this show is that ultimately, pretty much everyone on the show is good. or trying to do good. at least...nothing has a dark underbelly. i appreciate that, it's refreshing in prestige TV.

akm, Wednesday, 28 March 2018 23:46 (six years ago) link

^ absolutely. Everyone is keeping on

tinnitus the night (Ross), Thursday, 29 March 2018 00:05 (six years ago) link

I always liked works of fiction where there's no real bad guy and everyone's just doing their best but bad shit still happens because of misunderstandings etc. because I thought it was more "realistic"--it wasn't until relatively recently that I discovered that real, cartoonishly villainous bad guys are actually everywhere in real life

Dan I., Thursday, 29 March 2018 02:05 (six years ago) link

(sorry, kind of apropos of nothing, need to catch up on this show, haven't tuned in since the web series)

Dan I., Thursday, 29 March 2018 02:07 (six years ago) link

Last episode was great

I find this show very touching, I think in part due to its contast to so prestige TV

Like, I wish all these characters the best and I hope it all works out for them

The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Sunday, 1 April 2018 13:49 (six years ago) link

This season was full of touching moments you don't get with other TV shows. The scene with The Guy and the elderly man suffering from dementia who couldn't find his key was heartbreaking.

well bissogled trotters (Michael B), Sunday, 1 April 2018 14:44 (six years ago) link

The scene where the doctor saves the dude choking on the tuna brought me to tears. Show is refreshingly non jaded and often life affirming

Eris (Ross), Sunday, 1 April 2018 16:05 (six years ago) link

even when someone's a jerk, the plot never really dwells on it. some people are jerks, who cares!
