Almost never had such a viscerally negative reaction to an album as this, to the extent that it's kind of interesting

definitely one of the best albums

It just creeped me the fuck out, and not in a cool way like Comus

imago, Monday, 12 February 2018 17:20 (six years ago) link

slithering and squelching on

I've just recently re-immersed myself in all things ISB and, well, love them love them love them. There's a lovely live version of "Cellular" by Mike Heron and his band on Youtube. 2013, I think. Don't have the link handy but worth searching for. Anyhow - bless these folks.

LJ, you disappoint me.

It wasn't necessarily that I thought it was bad music. It was an almost irrational reaction, like I was in the presence of evil

imago, Monday, 12 February 2018 17:55 (six years ago) link

LOL, evil not normally a word associated with ISB.

You probably shouldn’t hear the Scientology albums then

Actually I would like to hear your reaction to “Bad Sadie Lee”

"Pictures in a Mirror" is enough to give anyone the willies.

that is some proper mind-into-mush prion activation shit right there

the vibe I get from this lot is that of seemingly kindly and eccentric hippies who drug and kidnap women and force them to sing

imago, Monday, 12 February 2018 18:14 (six years ago) link

among other things

the male energy is gross with this lot, I'm sorry. darkest hippie music

You may be projecting!

"A Very Cellular Song" for me (don't know if I voted in this or not), but Williamson's childhood song second for sure. That is one amazing song.

I never knew this album actually made it all the way to number five on the British album chart. And was nominated for a Grammy!

timellison, Monday, 12 February 2018 18:48 (six years ago) link

yeah, it's funny to realize how popular they were for a minute there!

Incredible String Band "Be Glad for the Song Has No Ending"

must see TV

imago should listen to "U" which even ISB lovers like myself must find a bit disquieting

Watching that is what got me on this recent kick!

ISB can definitely be annoying but I don't get a gross/hostile male vibe at all and if there were one, I have faith that I would feel it
