the Dashboard Album is not good.

lol i like it. particularly "About Us" and the single ("Heart Beat Here"). a couple other tracks already growing on me.

Mordy, Monday, 12 February 2018 17:31 (six years ago) link

just noticed that the PBtT album is available as a $1-or-more digital download from Bandcamp, with a special offer:

From now until February 19th, all Bandcamp sales from Pianos Become The Teeth's 'Wait For Love' digital downloads will benefit The Choice Program at UMBC. Name your price and Epitaph will match half your amount.

more punk than pop-punk I suppose but the new Turnstile album slaps

the (likely excellent) new Camp Cope album is also up at NPR.

Simon H., Thursday, 22 February 2018 14:21 (six years ago) link

came here to post about the Camp Cope, I'm really liking this

Dinsdale, Thursday, 22 February 2018 20:22 (six years ago) link

it kinda peters out near the end, but the first half is very strong

Simon H., Thursday, 22 February 2018 20:23 (six years ago) link

Both those Turnstile and Camp Cope albums are exceptional; great week for new music

Evan R, Thursday, 22 February 2018 20:25 (six years ago) link

Listening to awakebutstillinbed on repeat tonight.

No purposes. Sounds. (Sund4r), Friday, 23 February 2018 01:42 (six years ago) link

There's an appropriately somber Manchester Orchestra/Julien Baker collab single out today, I assume it's a one-off.

Simon H., Friday, 23 February 2018 16:31 (six years ago) link

and I just figured out it's a Pedro the Lion cover

Simon H., Friday, 23 February 2018 16:32 (six years ago) link

this Camp Cope album is pretty much the only thing I feel like playing these days

Dinsdale, Tuesday, 27 February 2018 20:41 (six years ago) link

at work and tearing up listening to I've Got You, damn

Dinsdale, Thursday, 1 March 2018 09:40 (six years ago) link

Camp Cope man, what a stunner of an album. I'm gonna need to listen 50 more times to absorb everything

piper at the gates of d'awwww (voodoo chili), Monday, 5 March 2018 22:35 (six years ago) link

i like this https://gulfer.bandcamp.com/album/dog-bless

flopson, Tuesday, 6 March 2018 08:57 (six years ago) link

I've wishlisted that. I like the interplay between math-y clean-tone guitars and melodic emo vocals.

Black Foxxes is out today - I've loved all the advance tracks so I'm exxpecting great things

Simon H., Friday, 16 March 2018 12:05 (six years ago) link

the black foxxes record is so good. "the big wild" is such a rich and varied song

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Friday, 16 March 2018 15:34 (six years ago) link

The second single off the new Wonder Years is much nicer than the first!

tangenttangent, Friday, 16 March 2018 19:44 (six years ago) link

yeah it's pretty good! I wish the mix breathed more though (this was my complaint about the last couple as well, sigh)

Simon H., Friday, 16 March 2018 19:55 (six years ago) link

I know what you mean - I think that's definitely something that holds them back... Still, excited for the album a bit more now

tangenttangent, Friday, 16 March 2018 23:35 (six years ago) link

Not sure this is quiiite the right place for this, but I think people here can hopefully appreciate it and idk where else to put it and it's AMAZING

love the extremely cure-ish guitar/synth counterpoint on this song

TT that Ling Tosite Sigure record slaps and absolutely belongs here

Simon H., Saturday, 17 March 2018 23:11 (six years ago) link

one of my favorite recent punk bands just broke up but they put out one last record and it's the best thing they've ever done

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Sunday, 18 March 2018 03:50 (six years ago) link

whoa this album is unreal, thx brad!

Simon H., Sunday, 18 March 2018 14:10 (six years ago) link

i am extremely excited for the new underoath record even though the new songs are apparently really pissing off their fans lol. "on my teeth" reminds me of shining more than any previous underoath song, "rapture" sounds like something i'd hear in between three days grace and papa roach on the radio but it's still... real good imo

Still relistening to the Donovan Wolfington. it's really great, even the production/mixing is exceptional. honestly my only complaint is it's way too short, bittersweet note to go out on

Simon H., Tuesday, 20 March 2018 15:37 (six years ago) link

That Gulfer LP has been a go-to for me the last couple of weeks. Thanks for the rec flopson

I really like the McCafferty record, Yarn, on first contact.

Simon H., Tuesday, 27 March 2018 15:05 (six years ago) link

this isn't completely related to this thread except that it's kind of post-hardcore, but holy shit @ what the armed are doing on their new record

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdT1CxS7DEE

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 27 March 2018 18:01 (six years ago) link

woah, I guess I need to check out their debut

Simon H., Tuesday, 27 March 2018 18:08 (six years ago) link

this isn't the right thread for this either, but new petal album in june

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 3 April 2018 15:32 (six years ago) link

new Wonder Years is a disappointment; the attempts to broaden their sound with keys and post-punk drums just flattens everything and the specificity is almost completely gone

Simon H., Tuesday, 3 April 2018 15:34 (six years ago) link

that band fuckin sucks anyway

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 3 April 2018 15:36 (six years ago) link

lol sorry that was a little ott

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 3 April 2018 15:37 (six years ago) link

it's just over the course of their last... idk, 2-3 records they've just really proven themselves incapable of realizing any potential they might've had. i thought they were maybe going somewhere interesting on no closer to heaven but half of that record was just really poorly executed versions of their usual thing

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 3 April 2018 15:42 (six years ago) link

all of their attempts to expand their sound feel really empty bc there's nothing in the songwriting to back it up

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 3 April 2018 15:44 (six years ago) link

anyway i love the new sellout underoath record

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 3 April 2018 15:47 (six years ago) link

apparently these guys have been around forever but have never really taken off. their new album is fantastic

attn mordy def check out this record ^^^

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 3 April 2018 18:32 (six years ago) link

This is really good - this might sound weird but it sounds to me like a less dramatic / appealingly lower-stakes nu-Brand New album (and without the baggage)

Simon H., Wednesday, 4 April 2018 13:53 (six years ago) link

not weird at all, dude's voice is def in that j*sse l*cey region

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 15:45 (six years ago) link

someone on a different message board pointed this out but they sound less like brand new than they do other bands that have been relentlessly compared to brand new (crime in stereo, "colored out" reminds me of driver friendly)

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 15:46 (six years ago) link

I feel a bit bad for dissing the Wonder Years album in the way I did since I read the p4k review (which highlighted some of the inspirations behind the record) but oh well

If anyone's had a screamo itch recently, you could do a hell of a lot worse than the Storm{O}'s Ere.
