Thanks, pollrunners! That CXCX song has some nice bleeps in it but is very underwhelming.

I was also somewhat surprised that Rita Ora almost made it. I didn't have any hopes after the lukewarm reception it got in TSJ.

It was also amusing to scroll through them in between results and note how so many of the bands have a blonde woman lead singer + dudes (with Alvvays as the exception that kinda confirms the trend)

This was a great countdown even if the top three went all ILM £20 music prize.

I think New Rules was a more worthy winner but I dont hate Boys. At least Bodak Yellow didnt take it.

I like the lack of consensus though... only consensus artist could je Kendrick Lamar with two songs in here. In previous years we’ve had 3 or 5 by the same artist and a very predictable top 3.

But yeah, six songs from three artists (not counting Avalon Emerson and her various remixes) is an all-time low record I'd think. Viva variety!

iirc we had about 20% fewer ballots this year but also there just wasn't a clear consensus pick. CRJ was in the lead for most of the voting period but the top 3 were pretty close throughout.
