Looks bleak for any dancehall or soca noms - guess artists like Shenseea or Bunji Garlin having strong years contributed to vote-splitting etc :/

4 of my 25 have placed, not expecting my #1 to place now. Of the others on my list the only ones I think may place are Tove Lo and The Black Madonna.

Dan Worsley, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:19 (six years ago) link

ooh yeah Black Madonna almost certainly I would think

Simon H., Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:20 (six years ago) link

I'm expecting something by Julien Baker to show up, but that might end up only doing well in the albums poll.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:20 (six years ago) link

bicep's glue could still show up

Dan S, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:21 (six years ago) link

can't imagine it won't

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:21 (six years ago) link

at least 4 of mine have placed, possibly more. can't complain.

Simon H., Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:21 (six years ago) link

i have learned that lorde is not for me

marcos, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:22 (six years ago) link

Big For Your Boots by Stormzy is definitely placing in the top 20, maybe top 10 given he had no other songs nominated when I last looked.

Given the amount of bobbins in the list already then The Black Madonna's He Is The Voice That I Hear is in with a shout.

Reserve at least one place for whatever Carly Rae Jepsen released last year, because this is ILM. I'd guess Lemon by NERD/Rihanna and at least one Fever Ray as well.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:22 (six years ago) link

I imagine Julien Baker got badly vote split, she had so many noms (I voted for "Funeral Pyre")

Simon H., Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:22 (six years ago) link

There's also a song I kind of expect to place that will likely be met with a lot of groans and comments about the album being disappointing and ILM voting on autopilot.

MarkoP, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:23 (six years ago) link

I think we have a very solid idea of the top 20 between the last few posts, hoping we all lose our minds tomorrow tho

Simon H., Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:23 (six years ago) link

can't imagine Lemon will place

i guess it's not impossible that another xx song shows up now but idk if there's room for it

ufo, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:24 (six years ago) link

Yeah I think there'll be an obligatory Lindstrom as well.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:24 (six years ago) link

so i'm hardly surprised not to see any eminem but is no one repping Jay-Z any more?

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:24 (six years ago) link

the album will place for sure

Simon H., Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:25 (six years ago) link

I don't think anyone really liked the Lindstrom this year?

ufo, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:25 (six years ago) link

I'd be gutted if no soca placed. don't have my list with me but I'm sure I voted for Take Ah Bathe. Won't place though. Been such a great year for Caribbean music in general but maybe no clear standouts

Badgers (dog latin), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:25 (six years ago) link

lol 5 of my votes placed today. welcome to the hivemind, me.

hoooyaaargh it's me satan (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:25 (six years ago) link

― ufo,

Yeah, the Lindstrom album was really disappointing.

kitchen person, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:26 (six years ago) link

ahhhhhh i forgot to vote for Take Ah Bathe, my bad

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:26 (six years ago) link

is no one repping Jay-Z any more?

ILM doesn't use Tidal.

Well except for that one guy who shows up in the Spotify thread to complain.

MarkoP, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:26 (six years ago) link

agh, that was not meant to post the youtube, apologies

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:27 (six years ago) link

xp

i think that guy was banned for being psycho

omar little, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:27 (six years ago) link

I was following on from MarkoP's post. Can't think what else he might be referring to except maybe the Arcade Fire and if they show up this year then I'm deleting ILM.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:28 (six years ago) link

Go stand in the corner and think about what you've done, forks.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:28 (six years ago) link

I assumed Malibu by Miley Cyrus would be in here somewhere. I'd be surprised if it was this high though.

kitchen person, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:28 (six years ago) link

Two of my votes so far. I am only expecting one more to show up for sure.

daavid, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:29 (six years ago) link

Starting to lose hope for Melanin :/

daavid, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:32 (six years ago) link

I think there's a chance for another Wolf Alice track, but maybe most of the people who would have voted for it just voted for the album.

feel like "feel it coming" missed its moment last year

then again i would've said this about childish garbaggio or whatever

― flamenco drop (BradNelson),

made my P&J ballot, part of my moment last year.

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:35 (six years ago) link

Melanin was a step too far into gloop territory for me

rob, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:35 (six years ago) link

i guess you still feel it coming alfred

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:37 (six years ago) link

was hoping hurtin’ me would show up or does everyone hate that or something?

faust apes (NickB), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:41 (six years ago) link

is there a link for that saer track? I actually meant to go back and sort those out; I loved watching that drive through the rain video after returning from a trip to the peak district in June

rob, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:45 (six years ago) link

@Matt DC, Much more ILM friendly than Arcade Fire. Could be overestimating its chances of showing up in the top 20, or even the levels of groans it would receive.

MarkoP, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:50 (six years ago) link

ILM's gonna go nuts when thanks to LJ, Jute Gyte go top 10

Algerian Goalkeeper (Odysseus), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:55 (six years ago) link

i didn't know there was a consensus saer track or woulda voted that way

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 19:58 (six years ago) link

That was a terrible day today. k-pop really is not my cup of tea. It is pretty unbelievable but i guess the richard dawson middle ages folk song was my fave. I by no means like that kind of music very much but it made for a nice change after all that bloody contemporary stuff. Tomorrow can only be better, yesterday was quite decent. That kamasi washington track was godlike, phantastic cosmic-mystic pharoah sanders vibes.

bloody contemporary stuff

lmao

rob, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 20:16 (six years ago) link

I've liked a lot of stuff all three days of the poll, maybe the most stuff I've vibed with ever

Simon H., Wednesday, 24 January 2018 20:17 (six years ago) link

thanks LBI! it was "back in time for tea" I was talking about earlier--this is nice too

rob, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 20:18 (six years ago) link

'back in time for tea' too is brilliant

♫ very clever with maracas.jpg ♫ (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 20:19 (six years ago) link

Would be surprised if Cut To The Feeling missed out on the 77 altogether so perhaps that is still to come.

And more than five ilxors voted for Boys too surely?

groovypanda, Wednesday, 24 January 2018 20:20 (six years ago) link

no way in hell does CRJ not make it

Simon H., Wednesday, 24 January 2018 20:22 (six years ago) link

Selena Gomez probably?
