Never made tea, it's easier to just get it over with and chew them up and swallow.

Of course, I had a cast iron stomach when I was eating them regularly, now I might be more prone to getting sick.

Yeah idg the attempts to make it palatable by mixing it with food or drink. Hold your nose, throw it down the hatch, chase it with a drink. It’s nothing.

I always felt it was one of those things I should keep away from...

The number of times I'd express some sort of creative idea I had, but whoever I was telling would roll their eyes and go 'eh, lay off the acid Mann' (e.g. a song where everyone feels the need to rise up and take back the means of production but are hampered by being bicycles)..

Not being in too many creative enterprises these days, I guess i don't need it now, and back then I didn't need it either.

Growing your own shrooms, then drying, powdering, and filling them into gelatine capsules, is neither hard nor expensive, and resolves all the taste and dosage issues.

we clearly have different levels of estimation for effort

If that method turned shit into gold I still wouldn't be fucked doing it tbh

Stronger is better ime. When I had access, I really liked the strong Hawaiian ones that came on quickly. Some of the weaker types were not so good as they didn’t have enough uplift to take you fully out of your current concerns. There’s nothing worse that sitting in your apartment with the same depressing thoughts going round in your mind - but this time on shrooms.

psychedelics turn the shit of human consciousness into the gold of knowledge of the godhead, man

*tokes spliff, goes back to staring at a piece of cat litter on the living room floor*

I'm awful easygoing tho and have no worries so xp

remember the lmao (darraghmac), Sunday, 21 January 2018 11:42 (six years ago) link

find most of my worries were replaced with "i'm tripping balls this is fucking awesome :D :D :D"

i am a skinematographer (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 21 January 2018 11:45 (six years ago) link

If you’re with a trusted, experienced friend and are solidly of the “no worries” mental disposition, yeah, you should absolutely do it.

circa1916, Sunday, 21 January 2018 11:55 (six years ago) link

yeah, tripping is just straight-up fun, i wish i’d had the opportunities to try more types of psychedelics back in my youth

not to get all timothy leary but it’s also an experience i wish more people in general had tried cuz it’s pretty instructive to realise just how easily your everyday sensorium can be tweaked and just how much of what you take for granted about what you see, feel, hear, taste and touch every day is an illusion you’ve simply become accustomed to

okay i failed at not sounding like a raddled old hippy but fuck it

grim-n-gritty hooty reboot (bizarro gazzara), Sunday, 21 January 2018 11:55 (six years ago) link

I wouldn't do it these days, I'm too concerned that the flimsy B+Q decking that's keeping me from sinking into the swamp might be an illusion - but it's possibly a very necessary one. But I had some some serious fun and terror with LSD in my youth.

calzino, Sunday, 21 January 2018 12:00 (six years ago) link

xp

Haha. It really is impossible to talk about the (legitimately instructive and profound) insights you can have on this stuff without sounding horribly cliche. Needs to be experience firsthand.

The small handful of times i tried this (shrooms or acid) ranged from no perceptible effect to horrible introspective paranoia, the feeling that everyone was looking at me and judging my every word and facial expression. I wouldn't have said I'm a super anxious person, no more than the average shut-in nerd on this site anyway. Maybe that is in fact pretty anxious.

Mix the shrooms into a smoothie. Really nice, micro dose it as well so it's just a night of laughs - don't get carried away

kolakube (Ross), Sunday, 21 January 2018 12:48 (six years ago) link

itt: a bunch of ilxors realise how much they miss tripping, gofundme a bulk purchase of shrooms for the board

I wouldn't put myself as avg for the site tbh so I can avoid this explosive q

tried it again for the first time in years on my birthday last year. we got up and went on a big walk. I definitely felt more anxious, more self-conscious and more cynical about the experience than when I was younger, especially when it involved being around other members of the public. walking through the streets and negotiating traffic was not much fun. reaching nature and larking about in the woods was a lot better. Despite everything, it was a lot of fun

Badgers (dog latin), Sunday, 21 January 2018 14:54 (six years ago) link

being in a natural environment, even if it’s just a park, is prob the best way to maximise the experience ime

had a deeply awesome experience in kelvingrove park once which has stayed with me ever since, then on the way home spent way too long staring in pie-eyes half-awe, half-fear at a large statue of a tyrannosaurus rex which was then on display in front of glasgow uni

it were a good day, that
