Why do you guys *always* fall for this shit? He drops a link, detonates a touchy subject, is famously unclear about where he himself stand on it, and just sits back and enjoys the ride, seeing all you people respond and tumble over it. It's so, so played.

have a fourth thought about posting here about posts you had second thoughts about posting. if the first thought was the original post, the second thought was deciding not to post it, and the idea of posting it here was the third thought. it's not a revolutionary fourth thought and it doesn't make the thread title less accurate, but i just wanted to share what i learned and thought this would be the most appropriate thread for it

I sometimes think LCD Soundsystem has the talent of sounding like every late 70s/early 80s band I dislike at the same time.

No purposes. Sounds. (Sund4r), Wednesday, 24 January 2018 13:35 (six years ago) link

Not really celebrating, I don't care enough tbh. but this is a safe space to be a pass-agg shithead I thought. Let's just say I wasn't an admirer.

sarahell, Thursday, 25 January 2018 19:15 (six years ago) link

family story: my mom went with my grandma (r.i.p.) to the museum, and grandma was scandalized by that sculpture and the prominent butt, and thought it was obscene in some weird way, because she had a big butt idk, and when my mom told me about this, I said, "that's really weird because that figure is totally built the way we are, though we take after grandpa's side of the family"

I want to read a book about Hope Hicks. She is the same age as me, went to similar kinds of schools (pre-college), and before joining Trump didn’t seem especially political. And het if Wolff is to be believed she is the only person who is truly loyal to Trump. In a cabinet of cynics mocking him behind his back she thinks it’s never too late to change the narrative—an attitude she picked up from trump. Why? Or alternately, is it even possible? Does she have a long term gameplan—book or something? Bannon says she allowed herself to be incriminated by sitting in certain Russia meetings everyone else knew to avoid. She seems willing to go down with te ship. Why? Can she really feel loyalty to her awful, disgusting boss?

Daddy issues (according to the book at least)
everyone is suddenly saying Nikki Haley is the woman Trump is having an affair with (as Wolff suggested last week on Bill Maher)
but reading the book, it's clearly Hope Hicks

flappy bird, Saturday, 27 January 2018 00:48 (six years ago) link

That is the obvious answer I guess. I hope not. It seemed almost like she just had a really bizarre personality profile amd was perceiving an alternate reality.
