Sleep Has His House is absolutely fantastic. The first one of hers I read was The Parson, which is... good, but very much of a realist style, so I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you want to be completist. I really really need to read some more.

not sure if i've read the 'nz: answer to an inquiry' piece, but have read the riposte it got in landfall (nz lit mag) soon after... which from memory wasn't entirely unsympathetic to her conclusions.

So happy to see this thread, had no idea it existed. I’m a big fan (I spent I don’t know how much money on editions of A Bright Green Field and Eagle’s Nest) and looking forward to getting that collection.
