i love the basketball jones/the starters weekly pod, but I could understand if it is way too silly for some. Road trippin is occasionally entertaining. The Ringer's NBA pods should be much better than they are. Give Shea Serrano a podcast, simmons!

I fully admit to watching the starters daily nba tv show most days please do not ban me

i can only (sporadically) get into the tv show around all-star game and playoffs, but yeah they are inspirations

my fav hoops pod rn is brian windhorst's espn pod w/ the other espn basketball ppl. it's basically the old truehoop podcast but w/ all good/smart writers and no "personalities" like amin or the more talk radio-ish guys that used to be on the truehoop pods. windhorst is kind of a garbage writer but as a moderator of conversation he's good bcuz he is very very knowledgeable about the league.

i listen to it cause brian is good but i actually hate the combinations of guests who rarely seem to have any chemistry. other than bontemps whose grumpiness i enjoy they can be a drag.

it's a little worse now bcuz jackie macmullan is out... sometimes it's a weird crew. kirk goldsberry in partic is not very good.

yeah he's awful.

windy is cool enough. he knows a lot for sure, seems really plugged in. i havent listened to his pod recently ill get back into it. dude lacks any sense of humor tho.

windy has a sense of humor but like any good midwesterner it's extremely dry.

that show is really and truly wretched... jalen actually is prob the only good one

honestly i really enjoyed scott van pelt's coverage of game 5 on his special edition of sportscenter they should just give postgame to him

beadle seemed really disengaged most of the time. none of them had any chemistry.

grear moment on the hoop collective pod today when they’re talking about mark cuban being described on TNT as the “proprietor” of the mavs. macmahon does his joke about needing to look up the word in the dictionary but then in trying to genuinely understand what it means for mark cuban to be the “proprietor” they actually read the definition on air. turns out *i* didn’t exactly know what proprietor means!

yes you do the zone of totality is 1000% cooler than the rest of the eclipse i drove up to wymoning from colorado for the last one and it was totally worth it, tho i did have a nice place to stay so it was nice anyway, today im already in the zone

reporting back is was so sick one of the most unusual and impressive natural phenomenon ive ever seen, recommend checking it out next time

its kinda funny to think back on those great reggie battles with the knicks and bulls with the knowledge that reggie is such an absolute goober. he was always a fun player to hate/root against but with hindsight have to think that for guys like ewing and starks and mj, the rivalries were less "fun" and more like "this mf guy"

and he cant pronounce any players names even when theyre jones

xp i think that’s right. and back in the 90s we didn’t have the tools to always know who was lame so those reggie trolling videos took on a different tone.

honestly i don’t hate reggie like he doesn’t grate on me the way mark jackson or richard jefferson do/did. he’s just kinda dumb. or more than kinda. the clock thing last night being a great example

his biggest offenses as an announcer imho

1 can barely talk, consistently mispronounces very common words forget about at all unusual player names theres no hope, and just has a weird way of talking in general he has a flat affect like theres something amiss in his brain

2 is always way behind the action, theyll be some big play then the other team has the ball across halfcourt and hes like wow zion is really putting the team on his back, hes just never has his head in the game no sense of timing doesnt bring any emotional intensity, just very disconnected from the general goings on

3 is consistently wrong even about what hes currently seeing in a replay, but also about the rules of the game, strategy, whats normal in basketball, player evaluations etc

comparing him and jefferson is interesting cause jefferson is so unlikable but otherwise understands the job does it pretty well, where reggie has no personality and is deeply incompetent

its a great pod obvs and i know they have this adversarial schtick but i wish sometimes they would give each other a lil credit windy tells great stories has cool lines like that and theyre just on his ass immediately after, even just let it breathe a bit bontemps particularly is always stepping on everyones punchlines
