It is conceivably possible that Richard Herring has vandalised "Andrew Gonk Collins" wikipedia entry:

In the podcast he often makes reference to Herring's collection of 80s toys and in particular to his massive lifesized pork cutlass of which he is particularly envious.

and i'd say the entire life story of Dieter Meier is unusual. ("one time member of the Swiss golf team" "industrialist keeping himself busy with art exhibitions" like a plaque saying:

On March 23 1994, from 3 to 4 pm, Dieter Meier will stand on this plaque". He honored the promise 22 years later

All this is pretty much consistent with what Dieter Meier has told of himself in all the interviews I've read. Of course it could all be an elaborate hoax perpetrated by him (this would actually fit his character), but I wouldn't imagine some random Wikipedia contributor doing independent research on Meier's life.

The performance piece where he placed a plaque at a railway station in 1972 saying that he would stand there in 1994, and then kept his promise in 1994, has been documented though, I've seen pictures of it.

That same year, whilst covering the war in Bosnia Bell was seriously wounded by shrapnel while recording a report. The grenade was fired by Serbian forces. He is often noted for wearing a white suit.

Yeah, I heard about the Kassell plaque on Norwegian radio in 1986, so it's def not invented later than that at least.

To achieve the rough and choppy nature of the East River a WOW Wave Ball (a sophisticated Belgian device, which churns up controlled waves) was used.[12] The ZOW Wave Sphere from Portugal was originally considered, as it is a far more sophisticated device and can shape waves based on the target water temperature, salinity and ocean floor depth. However, the CEO of ZOW Waves, Fernando Trerrero, was indicted on (what some considered trumped-up) conspiracy charges just before principal shooting of the Rikers Island escape scene was to begin, and as such the ZOW Sphere was unable to be delivered on time. Belgian's WOW team was ready to take over, and eventually became the de facto wave generating spherical device supplier to the film industry.[11]

Note that the title incorporates an intentional misspelling (contéee instead of contée). It may or may not incorporate an intentional dropping of acute accents in Sibérie/Siberie and m'était/m'etait.

The grammatically correct title would be Sibérie m'était contée. The title as written in capital letters on the album cover is SIBERIE M'ETAIT CONTÉEE. To interpret this, it is necessary to understand that the French language usually drops accents (diacritics) on capital letters, but nevertheless very often retains the accent for capital É (E with acute accent) when it occurs in a word-final or near word-final position, because in this position it could be mistaken for silent "e" and the word could be mistaken for another word: eg, conté (told [masculine]), conte (tale).

Thus, nearly all French language references interpret the title as Sibérie m'était contéee (Amazon.fr, album reviews, etc). However the official Manu Chao website manuchao.net gives the title as Siberie m'etait contéee (without accents on Sibérie or m'était) even though Sibérie appears elsewhere on the same webpage with the accent. It is not known if this dropping of accents in Sibérie and m'était actually reflects the singer's intentions or was merely done by the site's webmaster.

Kattan married model Sunshine Tutt on June 28, 2008, in California after proposing to her at her grandparents' home in Gainesville, Texas on Christmas Eve 2006.[2] Kattan's publicist told E! Hurricane #1 were a UK indie/Britpop band, formed in 1996 by former Ride guitarist Andy Bell, along with vocalist / guitarist Alex Lowe, bassist Will Pepper and drummer Gareth Farmer. Signed to Creation Records (along with fellow bands such as Oasis, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Primal Scream) they released their debut album in 1997, entitled Hurricane #1. This included their first single, "Step Into My World", which reached number 29 in the UK Singles Chart (and a remix of which reached number 19 in 1997),[1] and other less successful singles "Just Another Illusion" and "Chain Reaction". Their other biggest hit single was "Only The Strongest Will Survive", which also reached number 19 in 1998,[1] and which featured on their second album, Only The Strongest Will Survive.

Bell quit the band in 1999 to become the new guitar player for Gay Dad.

Harold's best friend & roommate, free spirit Kumar, is not afraid to let go of his inhibitions, making Harold the symbolic personification of the suppressed Asian-American employee and student in the United States. Harold, at times, lets go of his inhibitions, but only during moments of extreme duress, to the point where he amazes even the free-spirited Kumar. Harold is the yin to Kumar's yang, with the both of them being united through their enjoyment of cannabis smoking after a long day's work and or leisurely fun (such as aboard an airplane in the sequel, and an after work "Friday night special" in the first film).

Apparently this is true. General Santa Ana played a key role in inventing chewing gum.

In 1869, exiled former Mexican president and general Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna (infamous for his victory over the Alamo defenders) was living in New Jersey. He brought a ton of Mexican chicle with him, in hopes of selling it to raise funds to help him return to power in his own country. He persuaded Thomas Adams of Staten Island, New York to buy it. Adams, a photographer and inventor, intended to vulcanize the chicle for use as a rubber substitute. Adams' efforts at vulcanization failed, but he noticed that Santa Anna liked to chew the chicle, which the ancient Mayans had done. Disappointed with the rubber experiments, Adams boiled a small batch of chicle in his kitchen to create a chewing gum. He gave some to a local store to see if people would buy it; they did and he began production.

"Nothing Gold Can Stay" is one of Robert Frost's most famous poems. Written in 1923 , this poem was published in The Yale Review in October of that year. It was later published in a collection called 'New Hampshire' (1923), which featured other notable poems of Frost such as Two Look at Two and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. Some say the poem helped Frost to win a Pulitzer Prize. Only eight lines long, this poem is still considered one of Frost's best. "Nothing Gold Can Stay" is also featured in the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and its film adaptation.

The poem's meter is Iambic Trimeter.

Gay Dad were one of the last UK Britpop bands to be launched in the late 1990s. They generated massive news media interest and had moderate chart success, but they failed to sustain their popularity and broke up in 2002. The best-known line-up of the band (during their most successful period) was Cliff Jones (guitarist/vocalist), James Riseboro (keyboardist), Nigel Hoyle (bassist), Charley Stone (guitarist) and Nicholas "Baz" Crowe (drummer).
