Sam & Max eps 2 & 3 are out, still have only played #1, which was good.

Episode 4 is out on gametap and it is the best one yet.

abanana, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Frustration w/ the circus tent + 360 = I never finished. Tho I still could! OH BOY OH BOY.

David R., Friday, 2 March 2007 21:10 (seventeen years ago) link

The Meat Circus is the worst bit of the game.

"My face" I DON'T FUCKING CARE! YOU TRY CATCHING THOSE KNIVES ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT? FUCK YOU!

When that thought arrived I kind of figured a break was needed :) That break is indefinite!

kv_nol, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:04 (seventeen years ago) link

If you're on about the knifes that you have to ride to get lifted up to the next platform, you can just use your shield to automatically have them go where they need to.

kingfish, Monday, 5 March 2007 19:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Really? No Kingfish, go away. My heartrate is finally getting back to nearly normal! I'll just leave the end as one big mystery. Or finish it when work becomes stressful again.

kv_nol, Monday, 5 March 2007 23:05 (seventeen years ago) link

which part are you stuck on? the only really impossible bit i found was the inward spiraling helix jump. after that, it was okay.

kingfish, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 06:02 (seventeen years ago) link

It's chasing the bloody kid up the three different platforms. I get to the third and I know I'm meant to float but by then the kid's already dead in most cases!

kv_nol, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 09:28 (seventeen years ago) link

kill the bad guys when they immediately show up, that's what i did.

kingfish, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 16:28 (seventeen years ago) link

He's many jumping things away with the bad guys, I can't get to him, that's the problem!

Sam and Max episode 5 is pretty good. Maybe the longest one yet, or maybe I just sucked at it. oh and there's a subtle Symphony of the Night reference in it!

forksclovetofu, Friday, 6 April 2007 13:54 (seventeen years ago) link

O rly!? Well then, maybe I won't have to buy them on PC! I'd love to see some point and click on the Wii.

Double Fine President, CEO and Creative Freak Tim Schafer tells 1UP this is all a big misunderstanding. "It's crazy, isn't it? We just put that in there as a placeholder for the Psychonauts page we're eventually going to have. But we made it dark and people freaked out," he told us. "While I'm sorry people got their hopes up, I'm happy that people got excited about it. Who knows? Maybe some clever publisher will see how much excitement that dark little banner generated, and send us a few million dollars to make a new Psychonauts game! :)"

Jeff LeVine, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 21:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Whatever the next thing they have, they really need to work out a promo deal with Hot Topic. I mean, shit, if they had a stand-up of the chick w/ her fingerless gloves, you'd get a shitloada business.

nice interview with Tim. Also in this series is an interview with the Gods of War guy, for those of you who favor the more bro-centric games, where the dude openly talks about their aim to design games with all flash, and just enough substance.

kingfish, Saturday, 10 November 2007 23:11 (sixteen years ago) link

new Sam & Max game is out on Gametap now. It has some nice new features: Sam can RUN now by doubleclicking (outside only), you can steer the DeSoto with the arrow keys, adjustable hint levels, and it supports any resolution your monitor does.

Well, at least, I don't remember these features.

Can you find Day of the Tentacle? It had MM built in.

Reading those Schafer and Jaffe interviews back to back was a trip.

From a neogaf thread I see there's an adventure game called A Vampyre Story made by some ex-Lucasarts employees I've never heard of.

Some of the other games look fantastic, many clearly inspired by Curse of Monkey Island (perhaps the game with my favorite graphics ever):

The new Sam & Max game is also up on Gametap. I haven't played much of it but it looks like it's a parody of/tribute to a certain well-received 2007 game... :)

I put ScummVM on my DS but I've never played any of these games and am not really sure where to start. Any tips?

czn, Saturday, 26 January 2008 13:22 (sixteen years ago) link

Day of the Tentacle, all of the Monkey Island series(tho the last one is a bit of a drop off), Fate of Atlantis, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, Sam & Max, etc

Seriously, all the Lucasarts/Lucasfilm Games adventure output from Monkey Island I up thru Grim Fandango is great. I've never tried it on a DS so i don't know how well it will work out.

kingfish, Saturday, 26 January 2008 17:40 (sixteen years ago) link

I put Day of the Tentacle and Beneath a Steel Sky on there and they both run really well. The touch-screen is a really good fit for point and click too. Impressive.

Trying to figure out if I can run Grim Fandango on it. I doubt it.

czn, Saturday, 26 January 2008 18:20 (sixteen years ago) link

Grim Fandango isn't SCUMM.

Anyone been playing those Sam & Max titles? I really want to get into them, but I want to play the DOS one first, but I don't know where to get it! :(

okay. lungfish. i have followed him underwater in the bathysphere. i did the thing where he chases me and i have to run in the air bubble, twice. i did the thing where i whack the boxes of pins and nails so they fly at him like missiles, twice. now he's in the airbubble with me, whacking me with a fiery talon, and i don't know what to do. shotting him does nae good. thumping him doesn't seem to do it. i have yet to try pyrotechnicising him or anything. i am a bit stumped; HELPS.

i don't remember this but a walkthough says to use the clams

abanana, Sunday, 10 May 2009 14:46 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah, you have to hit the clams so they open up and get them to snap down on the lungfish's dangly lure thingy (iirc, it's been a while).
