"Hey Matt." "Yeah Tim?" "Hey, you talked to Mark lately?" "Uh... haven't really talked to him but... he looks pretty... uh... down." "Hahaha. 'He looks pretty uh-huh....'" "Yeah, well... maybe we should cheer him up then." "What do you... uh... suppose we should do?" "Well... does he like butter tarts?"
...
"Check, come here, come here, come here." "Wow. Look at her." "I know." "I've never seen Sharon look so bad before." "I did once before, but this is pretty bad." "Yeah. What do you think she got up to last night? "Hahahahahahahahaha... KAREN!! I LOVE YOU!!"
Why isn't that in the video? It was the best part of the song! Is it an uncleared sample from some teen movie?

Pazz and Jop singles 1999
1. TLC: "No Scrubs" (LaFace) 1092. Eminem: "My Name Is" (Aftermath/Interscope) 663. Len: "Steal My Sunshine" (Epic)
Totally blew by me that critics liked this song.

I always thought this was a drug reference I was too young to understand, but apparently it's a reference I just don't get period.

This is a really good song.
The female vocals are very summery.
What's not to like?

it's a great song but i can't figure out the lyrics. i think maybe i shouldn't bother, doesn't really matter what they're saying.

Wow, I knew both songs well but never pieced it together until I saw this. I also didn't know the name of "Suavecito." I just knew it as that song on oldies radio that features Santana's brother.

Brandon Canning was in this band once, according to Wikipedia. And Buck 65 almost joined LEN as well. Weird.
And to Johnny Fever, I have a copy of We Be Who We Be - I don't know why DreamWorks never put this out, the album is a very commercial and has very obvious singles, even though it's slightly embarrassing and very mediocre. My copy doesn't have "Brother Sister Thing," sadly.
Dude in the band is an exec at EMI Publishing Canada or something.

I heard the main sample play in the background of a scene about 20 minutes into The Last Days Of Disco. Hearing the sample in its original context somehow makes this song seem even more miraculous.

Indeed, while I've been aware of More More More forever, I somehow never made the connection between bad porn-star-disco-Rachel-Stevens-cover-fodder and Steal My Sunshine. Oh, LEN, what can't you do?

They did that on purpose, didn't they? (The rec co, I mean)
― Mark G, Friday, 11 February 2011 17:04 (thirteen years ago) link
it's possible they did on purpose. i know that lots of jive records' teen pop acts released radio-only singles (ever wonder why "i want it that way" only got to #5 on the hot 100?) so i assume it was fairly common at that time.
and actually yeah the album had many pretty good tracks, now that i think about it
