again, ianad, and this is kind of unsafe territory but you can try upping the dosage a tiny tiny bit (if you have a larger body mass low doses might not affect you much), but there is no build up necessary i wanna say?

i would try a different brand or even source if upping the amt/spray count doesnt help

good luck and be safe

CbD tolerance is definitely a thing. Some people feel nothing the first couple times they take a 20mg pill. What is the dose you're taking cherry?

kolakube (Ross), Thursday, 28 December 2017 20:36 (six years ago) link

cannabidiol stays in the body 2-5 days

it looks like cherry is using a spray

cherry if you dont mind saying how long were you taking the recommended dose?

infinity (∞), Thursday, 28 December 2017 21:02 (six years ago) link

Deodorant would be a good delivery vehicle

calstars, Thursday, 28 December 2017 21:52 (six years ago) link

well its only second day of doing it so far!

i did 0.33, 0.33, 0.5 and 0.5ml (2.4mg, 2.4mg, 3.6mg, 3.6mg)

cherry blossom, Friday, 29 December 2017 11:50 (six years ago) link

The studies that had a benefit for anxiety were using at least 10X that amount. I know that personally it takes about 40mg of CBD to have any effect orally.

For sources, ironically the CBD subreddit has the best list of suppliers with recent quality tests.

louise ck (milo z), Friday, 29 December 2017 19:32 (six years ago) link

I'll check that out thanka. contradictory information make this confusing - recommended dose so low!

cherry blossom, Saturday, 30 December 2017 01:10 (six years ago) link

Yeah I stand by what I said about not exceeding 60 mg to start but cherry those amounts are way too low!!

kolakube (Ross), Saturday, 30 December 2017 01:11 (six years ago) link

I think suppliers recommend such small doses to make the product look more affordable.

louise ck (milo z), Saturday, 30 December 2017 01:30 (six years ago) link

Ime, non-medical stuff is of limited use because of low potency
Can you get legal? Or know someone who isn't?

i believe that (s)he is sincere (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 30 December 2017 01:37 (six years ago) link

sorry the mrs are correct, the mgs were wrong

4.8mg, 4.8mg, 7.2mg, 7.2mg in one day. still quite low by looks of it. I will try larger doses tomorrow, thats a lot of spraying though...many times during day, or fewer times with more spray?

cherry blossom, Saturday, 30 December 2017 01:57 (six years ago) link

Fewer times, more spray, IMO. You could try however many sprays get you to 20mg at once for a starter?

louise ck (milo z), Saturday, 30 December 2017 02:50 (six years ago) link

To put the amounts in perspective, THC is way more potent mg for mg and 5mg THC doses are sold as almost unnoticeable microdoses in legal states here.

louise ck (milo z), Saturday, 30 December 2017 02:55 (six years ago) link

if this doesn't work, maybe try the pills? higher doses to boot

kolakube (Ross), Saturday, 30 December 2017 03:03 (six years ago) link

I tried doing 20mg at once and there was some reduction in anxiety, fairly muted but it was there - though of course anxiety is variable!

cherry blossom, Sunday, 31 December 2017 09:07 (six years ago) link

the thing I don't understand about sublingual is, you hold it there for 3 minutes or whatever because it goes in faster, then you swallow it? but that mean the stuff thats still in your mouth hasn't gone in the sublingual way?

cherry blossom, Sunday, 31 December 2017 09:08 (six years ago) link

I just hold it as long as possible while working

cherry blossom, Sunday, 31 December 2017 09:09 (six years ago) link

The 3 minutes sounds like a general guide

I assume some people can’t go a long time without the need to swallow

Administering liquids under the tongue ensures they enter the bloodstream faster without the so called first pass effect of breaking down/potentially losing its potency in the gastrointestinal tract, stomach, then liver

If you’re swallowing minuscule amounts of it, I don’t think it’s a big deal, especially since you are now taking way more than the product suggests

infinity (∞), Sunday, 31 December 2017 14:08 (six years ago) link

so I massively increased the dose, and was doing 20mg at once the last few days, 6 or 7 times a day and....its nearly all gone. It did kind of work a bit. I think maybe a try the vape

cherry blossom, Monday, 1 January 2018 10:44 (six years ago) link

Ok, second try - gone with Bluebird 6X Hemp concentrate so maybe the stronger will do better

Something to do with the ratio of THC I presume, but its not particularly clear

Cal is there a licensed dispensary near you? Would recommend checking that if you can

Ross, Monday, 9 July 2018 07:14 (five years ago) link

I've been messing around with CBD for the last few weeks and have had best results from vaping high CBD low THC bud (surprisingly easy to get hold of in UK?!) It's like my body gets stoned but my brain doesn't? Really reduces pain in muscles and lessens body stress/anxiety. Not a wonder cure but any reduction in symptoms is welcome tbh.

been using cbd oil for a few weeks, felt quite good initially but noticed i've been getting upset stomach a lot more. i have ibs but usually related to eating certain things. i wondered is it possible i'm swallowing it more than i notice when taking it sublingually. i find it quite hard to know how much is being administered and now i think about it, whether i'm properly administering it sublingually. i mean without getting ridiculous should i be telling myself to say "ah" like a doctor would when you're a kid.

alternatively i guess i could start vaping it instead? dunno where to start with that tho.

FernandoHierro, Friday, 31 August 2018 15:27 (five years ago) link

i have a lot of chronic weakness and muscle pain and the first week it seemed to help a lot with that, i was exercising more and sleeping better, but the upset stomach just exacerbates those issues so it's become harder to tell how effective it's been.

I am interested in trying CBD on as as-needed basis to manage/alleviate anxiety. Interested if anyone else has tried it and your results.

could be psychosomatic, but a small amount of cbd and I’m less self-conscious when being social. a middle amount and I’m falling asleep on the couch

I have experienced my Grandfather struggle with anxiety for the last half year or so. Two different sets of drugs didn't sort him out, mainly I think because the side effects absolutely knocked him side-wards (he's 86).

Anyway after a couple of friends extolled the benefits I bought a 10ml 250g (weakest stuff) CBD Ultra bottle for him, three drops under the tongue in the morning and he's like a different person this week. Could be a placebo but I hope this holds up.

the state cops busted someone running a business called "Your CBD Store" with storefronts in three local suburbs here. it's insanely vague whether it's actually illegal and a bunch of my peers have CBD products at home

at this point it'd be worth explicitly, at the least, making non-THC products like CBD available because mail order businesses are making bank

my conservative, very much not pot smoking seventy-five year old parents bought some "pet CBD" for their dog as she was dying of dog cancer a few months ago. it was their vet's suggestion apparently, and apparently pet CBD is no different from human CBD except that it's sold in a much less concentrated dose. anyway they said it really seemed like she was a lot more tranquil and it certainly helped her appetite in her last few weeks.

anyway, good for her and good for them and everything (and RIP Maggie the Goldendoodle, a gentle soul who is missed), but the whole experience made me curious enough to buy 30 10mg capsules for myself and I tell ya what, that wack ass shit didn't do a dang thing for this non-cancerous human except give me lavender oil scented burps and make me regret blowing $40 on it.

del griffith, Saturday, 25 January 2020 00:51 (four years ago) link

lavender oil?

my continuing report is that I feel more mellow, sleep better, and am in higher spirits after CBD ingestion

I have an anxiety-ridden friend who somewhat recently developed severe insomnia (staying up for four days straight some times), and she now swears by cbd-infused melatonin capsules.

a bevy of supermodels, musicians and Lena Dunham (C. Grisso/McCain), Saturday, 25 January 2020 01:01 (four years ago) link

yeah the stuff the guy at the dispensary sold me was cut with lavender oil and had ridiculous ganesh-themed packaging designed to dupe scented candle/yoga enthusiasts (and me) into buying it. "achieve zen" brand CBD oil or something like that. I did sort of feel alrighter than usual for a few hours after I exceeded the recommended dosage and ate four of the lavender snake oil pills at once, but cmon $40? at that price how can anybody who needs to make that a habit make that a habit?

The c b d seltzers give me a headache

calstars, Saturday, 25 January 2020 01:09 (four years ago) link

I swear by plain ol' melatonin for sleep issues, no CBD needed.

I recently read a book ("Suggestible You") about the placebo effect, which not only illustrates how some are more susceptible to it than others (perhaps a genetic trait), but how the problems the placebo effect is most effective in countering are often pretty much exactly the bulk of what CBD is typically purported to do. Pain, depression, nausea, insomnia, and anxiety, among them. (It's apparently also the cannabinoid receptors in our brains that enable to placebo effect.)

The way I see it is, until there's a study that says it's harmful, there's really no harm in trying, especially if you get results.

i enjoyed this post. personally never spending money on a cbd product that doesn't have the thc in it too.

ingredience (map), Saturday, 25 January 2020 01:23 (four years ago) link

Fwiw I could have sworn I read that THC boasts all the effects of CBD, too. Btw, per that same book, apparently Prozac does not beat the placebos in trials. That's another human drug we give to pets for their benefit. I wonder if there is an element of correlation vs. causation, like the way people who talk or sing to their plants reportedly get better results than those who don't.

My corner market has some CBT cigarettes next to the register and, as a recently quit smoker of 25 years, I’m very tempted to have something for my weak moments that won’t get me completely baked.

I was in france and germany recently and found it weird how a lot of places are now selling "CBD flowers" for smoking/vaping which look identical to the real thing and are similarly priced... I regret not trying some but I suspected I'd be disappointed

my youngest, 19, asked me today if the UK will ever legalise weed/edibles/THC based products.
i think attitudes may have mellowed in recent times, but it's not going to happen here for quite a while yet.
suspect it needs another generation to die off basically.

however, as a booze replacement, i am kind of tempted to try this CBD overpriced alternative, get let down, and open a bottle of wine.
