hey good news - i'm halping lpc!
that is rad! this sounds like it would be a very fun project! i can't wait to see the results.
It has always vexed me that some professional editing programs like Avid Media Composer and suchlike don't have the facility to place an audio clip in between frames
most commercial video editors & compositors (hate AE's timeline) i have used i find have insufficient timeline control imo except Premiere and FCP where you can at least advance and edit easily by one frame at a time. im not sure audio can live in between frames without editing the code of the video file itself outside of a program. one time i was playing around w Data Moshing and the trick behind that is to remove keyframes and have the codec itself generate the video image given the gap between the last previous keyframes and the next image. there was an open source program i used to do this but i forgot what it was.
the first two sections that i'm working on appear to be 157 BPM (in fact, i'm almost certain it's more like 157.4 BPM) and 143 BPM, respectively. at 30 frames per second, this means that 1 beat = .382165 seconds = 11.46 frames ,and 4 beats = 1.5286 seconds = 45.86 frames
are you doing this frame-by-frame w stop motion animation? what is your framerate? 29.97 or 30/Xfps? i used to use a Windows program called CoolEdit to assist with marking off frames. it is an audio editor and it displays time on the x axis as usual but you can switch between minutes/seconds and video frames w support for different framerates. you just set it to what you need and play the sound file (and/or look for the changes visually) and it displays it in fps. good look! this type of animation is very work-intensive but visually very rewarding!
funny, i have been hearing people irl and online talk about Longmont over the past few weeks. imo his legend is growing...

good look! haha
the larger project (i'm only making a short interlude for it) is 30 fps. it won't be too big of a deal to make things line up (i'm using premiere for the video editing). it it were entirely my own project, i'd just edit the audio slightly to make it align with the 30 fps visuals, but since i'm working to a pre-existing audio track (at 157 bpm, followed by a 143 bpm section that then gradu ally gets sl o w e r) it'll be a little bit trickier. but no big deal. i think the worst case scenario is that my visual cuts will, on occasion, be less than 1/30th of a second off of the barline of the audio. i was just kinda 420 last night so i temporarily got really into calculating exactly off it would be. :)

The uneasy sleeper stuff is great but I thought it was a producer of the film (David Hall) and not Longmont himself.

a friend of mine went to the premiere in NYC. said the doc is good not great, the first half apparently is mostly talking head interviews with random bands being like "i love his shit" and then the second half they meet up with LPC and he shows them around Denver, points out places he calls frequently.
