Okay, bizarro, you've convinced me to finally give in to my sister's entreaties and watch Iron Giant over the holidays. Had no idea Donald Sutherland was even in it.

the Olsen & Johnson vehicle Crazy House, in which one of them does to the romantic leads what the Marx Bros would've liked to do.

I think a lot of my favorite movies have something closer to a final movement (not quite an act) or series of scenes--rather than a discrete "final scene." 2001 is probably the paradigm for this.

Minions - because I couldn't wait for that shit to be over!

I believe that was actually a cardboard cutout of Danson masturbating

This always struck me as better representing the morbid ideal of psycho rather than the super hokey scooby doo villain unmasking/explanation scenes before it.

Lukas Moodysson has a knack for endings

Fucking Åmal / Show Me Love ends with two girls, out of the closet in love for the first time, drinking chocolate milk together and giggling

Tillsammans /Together is a family reunification that looks like this — http://www.michael-nyqvist.com/together7x.jpg

I genuinely thought of Show Me Love!!

Yes!!!!!

my all time favorite final scene / shot is Synecdoche, New York. it’s not even close. Was speechless & in a daze for an hour afterward. Shares something v important with the ending of Personal Shopper, a choice I’m surprised more filmmakers don’t use.

flappy bird, Monday, 12 February 2018 20:56 (six years ago) link

devil's backbone has a gd final scene/shot imo

still think that was legitimately one of the coolest cinematic gimmicks ever pulled, shame something like that wouldn't work today

The Purple Rose of Cairo is a proper gutpunch of an ending

First thought is The Third Man, but on second thought the goodbye to all that optimistic Americanism is a bit tired for my personal taste.

Wilder's endings are pretty, pretty good.
