Uh it's not the version that actually tries to be funny that's on youtube.

Oh god I've just seen the Lavazza ad, assumed it wd be a US thing only

Illegal Ethiopian Dance Music (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 2 December 2017 19:36 (six years ago) link

so sick of the phoney sex voices used on adverts for "luxury" Christmas food

best display name of 2017 (Noodle Vague), Friday, 8 December 2017 18:34 (six years ago) link

not an ad per se, but the trailer for 'i'm a celebrity...' where dec makes a decision and a woman screams and ant says that that was a good decision is complaint-worthy.

koogs, Sunday, 10 December 2017 22:28 (six years ago) link

the lavazza ad is terrible but the pimlico plumbers murdering something to the tune of 'merry christmas everyone' is a crime against humanity.

koogs, Sunday, 10 December 2017 22:29 (six years ago) link

The UK version of the 'V.I.Poo' advert has a caption at the end that reads 'perfect for Secret Santas'. Now a few years ago a colleague got a spray bottle of breath freshener in a Secret Santa, but a bottle of pre-dump toilet spray?!

Zings Can Only Get Better (snoball), Tuesday, 12 December 2017 20:58 (six years ago) link

that sounds like a terrible Secret Santa gift. who wants to open a gift called "V.I.Poo" in front of their beloved co-workers

Me? J/k

Is there any chance advertisers will ever get tired of that 'watching a young couple grow together, have children and then watch as their children have children in turn' or 'mother/daughter (or father/son) through the decades' shite they're so fond of?

Whiney Houston (Tom D.), Saturday, 23 December 2017 18:15 (six years ago) link

My cockles are warm enough, thank you.

Whiney Houston (Tom D.), Saturday, 23 December 2017 18:16 (six years ago) link

There's a cutesy mcdonald's ad in the uk on the theme of uh-oh these stupid people are saying there's all sorts in chicken mcnuggets let's prove them wrong jingly jangly twinkly cluck

Never changed username before (cardamon), Saturday, 30 December 2017 21:17 (six years ago) link

And it's one of the hundreds in that sort of studied twee post-wes anderson style that's the visual equivalent of the innocent smoothies aesthetic

i know kore-eda (or something), Saturday, 30 December 2017 21:56 (six years ago) link

That's double-dumb, that McDonald's one, because if there were bits, beaks or whatever, they would be shut down.

Mark G, Saturday, 30 December 2017 22:43 (six years ago) link

OK this Xeljanz XR ad where the lady buys a record player and plays records for her young son and dances with him and they drop the needle at the beginning of the runout groove really triggers some weird rage inside of me.

The Fortnightly Intruder (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Sunday, 31 December 2017 10:23 (six years ago) link

pro tip for the Quorn marketing people: every time I hear Alan Davies's smug lisp I'm gonna eat the cutest animal I can find

you shoulda killfiled me last year (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 4 January 2018 18:13 (six years ago) link

Incredibly the latest Nationwide advert with the sisters surpasses all the others so far in eye-gouging ear-stabbing horror

i know kore-eda (or something), Monday, 8 January 2018 20:54 (six years ago) link

indeed. I thought nothing could be worse than the Sainsburys xmas adverts but they have trumped it

Algerian Goalkeeper (Odysseus), Monday, 8 January 2018 20:55 (six years ago) link

Nationwide is a menace all the way around. they've got a new one with Tori Kelly doing a "soulful" take on the jingle. who the fuck wants to hear that 84 times during a football game? it was bad enough when it was Brad Paisley.

a good commercial, though, is Chris Paul, James Harden, Trevor Ariza and Oscar from The Office singing Backstreet Boys.

evol j, Monday, 8 January 2018 20:58 (six years ago) link

Nationwide is really the worst - "our ads are a national treasure" is pretty much the worst possible vantage point to approach a commercial from

I guess Progressive do this too but there's at least some wit and self-deprecation there. Nationwide stumbled into one commercial people sorta liked and now are gonna rehash it for the next 3+ years

frogbs, Monday, 8 January 2018 21:36 (six years ago) link

This is the UK Nationwide advert.

palace of swears reversed (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 January 2018 15:20 (six years ago) link

I think I hate charity lotteries the most of all, the ugly, money-grubbing, sanctimonious, self-defeating cunts

palace of swears reversed (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 January 2018 15:21 (six years ago) link

Those fucks have ruined Let 'em In for me

i know kore-eda (or something), Friday, 26 January 2018 15:35 (six years ago) link

Worse than Charity lotteries are:

Charities which soothe you into putting a "bequeathe" in your will. Ooh, carry on the good work so your descendents will benefit etc.

Nothing about how the charity will slap a lawyer straight onto preventing your descendents from selling your house/property (or deciding amongst themselves as to how to divvy it up, etc) and selling it themselves to make sure their 10% is gotten as soon as possible.

It hasn't happened to me, but it has happened to people I know.

Seriously, pass it on. If you/they want to donate to charity from a will, specify! £5,000 lets say. Do Not Mention A Percentage!!!

Mark G, Friday, 26 January 2018 15:41 (six years ago) link

didn't know that. that's sick.

palace of swears reversed (Noodle Vague), Friday, 26 January 2018 15:42 (six years ago) link

Staple it to yr mother's fridge!

I'm not saying all the charities do that. I could tell you which it was, but then mmm dangerous add disclaimers etc. Also, that they were the only one.
