Yesterday’s Champagne Sharks ep was a nice conversation with Jessa Crispin that will probably ruffle some feathers.

2 a week has been a good number to keep me from tuning out, but I didn't go backwards and binge once I started listening (circa NYer article) and I don't listen to anything else in the Chapo vein.

More serious lefty podcasts just end up gathering dust with the philosophy podcasts I'm subbed to - I'm listening while I drive while working, they're not very suitable in that environment.

maybe a more accurate comparison would be Jon Stewart/The Daily Show's 'America: the Book'?

To an extent, yes, but I think a difference here is that while the Daily Show book hit at the peak of their popularity/relevance in the ‘04 election, they were much more in a mass media form already, with millions of regular viewers, whereas this show has maybe 50-100k regular listeners in a far more (sub)niche venue

So who knows. Graphtreon will track it, same as they have so far.

I don't think Crispin's argument about the need for non-public (or less public) channels to deal with allegations is not that different from the pieces a few weeks about about formalizing the "whisper network". (I'm only 20 mins in so I don't know if there's more controversial stuff later)

also I understand the point of "popular contemporary feminists are only allowed to be Steinems, not Dworkins" but I'm uh also not sure that Lindy West fits neatly in with the criteria she lays out

Really enjoying the Will/Amber/Matt ep

Yeah it seems like the best dynamic is either Will/Amber/Matt or Will/Matt/Felix. And tbh I don't really feel like Virgil Texas adds much to the show, he's just like a midpoint between Will and Matt or something.

he's valuable as the data/polling wonk, otherwise he's just too "extremely online" for me, also a gamer

I would be totally okay with Felix and Virgil leaving the show tbh.

I need to go back and find the Frost/Christman movie podcasts

Amber > Felix > Matt > Will > Virgil

A bunch. John Wayne's Genghis Khan flick, the Adam Sandler 9/11 movie, American Sniper, some Dinesh D'souza trash, Wonder Woman, Boss Baby(sorta)

Plus, the origin ep of the show was when the three of them were guests on Street Fight Radio to rip into that stupid Michael Bay Benghazi movie.

yea it's fucked up. got emails yesterday from other people I pledge to giving notice about the price increase and how unfair it is. it doesn't make any sense, these creators were happy to take on the processing fees- why pass them onto the customers?
