first played it on the dreamcast (and then again on xbox) but vr is really the technology it's been waiting for since 2001 - the sense of being J A C K E D I N to this retro-gibson cyberspace world is amazing

still struggling a bit with motion sickness and i wish the screen was a bit more high-res but i'm really impressed by the kit overall

do you have the normal PS4 or the pro? Hesitant to upgrade to the latter for a few reasons

just a regular first-gen ps4, which often sounds like an airplane taking off nowadays :(

my boy is asking for one of these now, despite our just getting a switch, bc his friends are playing fortnite online I guess. I've never played a sony console before but it's cool, I want to play persona 5 & other jrpgs so between switch & this, life is good. But what I wanna know is: is the "slim" model the way to go in 2018 or should I spend more for the PRO model. we don't have a 4k tv and are unlikely to get one in the next 3 years or so.

the regular is probably fine. but note that some games are starting to get "optimized" for the Pro so they get better frame rates and such, like the Shadow of the Colossus remake coming out next month

persona 5 is really good. really long. i may even finish it some day soon. i've got nier automata and yakuza 0 on the docket.

yeah yakuza looks cool, I know Tokyo now and open world ish games in cities I know are great (one reason I don’t connect w most Rockstar open worlds, I don’t know LA or NYC or Miami)

in my opinion you should spend more for the pro model. It's worth it for the superior hardware specs, not just the 4k.

I'd agree, if the price difference isn't a burden I'd go for the pro version. I already have a PS4 and haven't felt the need to upgrade, but if this thing kicked the bucket I'd be replacing it with the better one

i just got a pro cuz my og ps4 blew up not long after i got a psvr and there is a small but noticeable improvement in performance for some games

Much better GPU is the main selling point but the CPU and RAM are both improved. Should give you better performance across the board ... not just loading. Also I think it ships with 1 TB of space instead of the PS4's 500 MB.

Also, if you ever do get 4K running, it does look pretty nice!

$100 more is a lot, but if you or someone will be playing it everyday it's probably worth it

I haven't played Metal Gear since the first one on the NES way the fuck back in the day, and I never understood how to play it back then. but now that my PS4 PRO will arrive on Tuesday I was thinking of what to get for it & I saw upthread that Metal Gear was something cool but WTF game is being talked about? I look online & there are all these different editions and I can't understand anything & it's like my game confusion from the NES days has been transferred IRL anyway please help

also are these Uncharted games good ones to test out this new hardware? I kinda want to play something that takes advantage of the horsepower I'll now have (even though my boy just wants to play Fortnite)

If you’ve got a 4K hdr tv then the best games to show off a pro are probably uncharted 4, Witcher 3 (no hdr yet but patch is coming soon), Gran Turismo Sport, Horizon Zero Dawn and wipeout omega collection. Plus maybe the Infamous games.

If you’re on a 1080 screen and just want to see better frame rates though then I’m not sure. I think the infamous menu let’s you choose between performance and resolution, uncharted might too, horizon definitly does.

There’s:
MGS5: Ground Zeroes (prologue-style single mission that was released as a teaser)
MGS5: The Phantom Pain (the game)

and “Definitive Edition” which is both. All you really need is TPP but 90% of the copies you’ll find by this point are either the bundle
or deadstock

And idk why it’s madness when nearly every game that’s popular now gets a “game of the year edition” or “complete edition” that bundles all the downloadable content at some later date. if this seems wild, wait until you see some real shenanigans

i love MLB the show and wholeheartedly recommend the single-player mode. the multiplayer is frustrating because at times it can be just about the most fun you can possibly have playing videogame baseball, and then all of a sudden a weird technical issue will appear and your right fielder can only masturbate in the outfield corner while the other team gets an inside the park home run. but if you like playing against the computer (i do) i highly recommend it

FIFA is great if you’re into that at all. this year’s edition is kinda flawed but it’s still the game i play the most.

uncharted 4 is great if you’d be into a beautiful and fun game that isn’t too hard.

as far as metal gear goes definitely get the version with ground zeroes bundled in. yeah it's a prologue but it's a super-tight level that can be played many many ways

rocket league is of course the best sports game

xp I liked NBA 2k16 when I played that but felt I had no chance of getting to grips with its depths. Is there a good tutorial mode or similar in the new one?
