They all do these days, Chris, it's the thing.

Move the saddle as far forward as it'll go, Ken? How are the tyres - nice and slick?

Mark C, Thursday, 14 May 2009 17:02 (fifteen years ago) link

could do with some white tyres though i think.

tell me why i shouldn't buy these, only a week after buying a different set:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Vittoria_Rubino_Tyre/5360018648/

only £11 each, and i only spent £8 each on the others.

Dude since I sent you that link they have removed the white/white option!!

Mark C, Thursday, 21 May 2009 15:30 (fifteen years ago) link

it's still there for the folding ones - which are twice as much. and have double the thread count, whatever the fuck that is (lol n00b).

man saves ducklings from (ledge), Thursday, 21 May 2009 15:44 (fifteen years ago) link

higher thread count means that the casing is more supple, which theoretically will make it handle better. theoretically.

ha nah I've still got two others atm.

Trying to save as much as possible for a deposit on a house u__u.

I've had two ppl seriously interested. One a retired baby boomer who is into masters rowing (huge cockhuffer)

and this nice kiwi chap who reckons he used to ride elite in NZ 10 or 12 yrs ago. He's coming around this evening to check it out.

i used to work at a company that compiled a database of the bike industry, and entering "fi'zi:k" was always the biggest pain in the ass. i hate them and always will, regardless of whether or not their products are any good.

dont know if i'll sell my old l@@k frame. prob won't get much for it, the paint job is pretty fucked. Loved riding this bike back in the day :(

wilter, Thursday, 28 May 2009 10:24 (fifteen years ago) link

The saddle is pretty offensive - it arrived today. It's a Planet X own-brand fi'zi:k (fuck, Jordan, you're right) rip-off. I had hoped the central stripe was white; it's actually silver. The frame is racing green.

Mark C, Thursday, 28 May 2009 12:49 (fifteen years ago) link

nice build, but do you really ride yr bullhorns way up like that??

i like to fart and i am crazy (gbx), Thursday, 28 May 2009 22:02 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah they might be a bit high, was just trying it out - i ain't used to this low slung roadie posture.

the TT bike was a hand-me-down from a teammate. trek's top of the line TT bike from 2004. hobbled it together this week for a stage race with a TT.

the wheels are new edge 1.45 tubulars. 18 spokes in the front, 24 in the rear, DT190 ceramic bearing hubs. the wheelset weighs 1089g. i have schwalbe durano tubulars on there.

cutty, Friday, 29 May 2009 22:04 (fifteen years ago) link

it looks like the front wheel hits the downtube

iro with the brown bag (Hunt3r), Saturday, 30 May 2009 01:35 (fifteen years ago) link

The white glare from the window obscures part of the saddle and makes it look like some super futuristic, super-thin thing.

two weeks pass...

nice! I want a road bike w/ similar lever setup i've recently decided.

wilter, Monday, 15 June 2009 03:14 (fourteen years ago) link

I don't really know much about bikes but it rides pretty well imo. It is a Fuji in case you can't make out the badge. I think it was like $25 at the flea market (got a new saddle though).

stem nothin'! you should see the pedals!

appears to have been untouched in any way by original owner since leaving the shop. stem's due for a flip, pedals due to be melted down for scrap.

the angle of that seat looks.. painful

probably not as bad as it looks but I had to do a lot of adjusting (this was right after I installed it)

the kickstand!

This just goes right over my head. Is there something weird about that kickstand, or are kickstands just lame in general?
