every inch of it ROCKS

Not as much as Rocks, but I'll allow it.

the guitar solo in "somebody" is heavenly

just re-listened, 'One Way Street' is a lot of fun.

Love the ASmith revival on ilx but I just can’t make time for this one with so many others more worthy of examination

calstars, Monday, 13 November 2017 01:04 (six years ago) link

somewhat agree, band is mostly hard rock stones/blues by numbers at this point.
but Tyler's voice out of the gate...

campreverb, Monday, 13 November 2017 01:17 (six years ago) link

Tyler the key, agreed, so good
But who has time for this when Rocks and “combination” Exist

calstars, Monday, 13 November 2017 01:19 (six years ago) link

Joe Perry is pretty down on this album, based on reading his memoir. He thinks it wasn't recorded right or something.

Movin'Out is a riffy jam. Always loved how it went into the spacey groove then built back up.

earlnash, Monday, 13 November 2017 19:17 (six years ago) link

think i'd agree with perry; while i think these songs are all good to great, the sound is flatter than the jack douglas records, way less dimensional

btw as much as i agree that toys and rocks are the best albums in the world, come on, even when they were more directly emulating their influences i still hear something very special going on here (and, beyond that, get your wings is basically on the level of toys imo)

Rocks is so much better than Toys...

calstars, Saturday, 18 November 2017 20:00 (six years ago) link

They shouldn’t always be equated like they are

calstars, Saturday, 18 November 2017 20:01 (six years ago) link

wow no

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Saturday, 18 November 2017 20:17 (six years ago) link

Toys has the title track and Adam’s Apple. The rest can bugger off

"rats in the cellar" is like the deciding factor in that argument iirc

He started thinkin' bout the fortune and fame
And the young girls down at his knees
He dug the money but forgot all the names
So he knew just how to appease-ah!
