Not least because I seem to be shooting more film than digital these days. I'd forgotten how great it is to have hundreds of prints laying about the place, tbh. And the cameras are cheap as chips, too: you can buy an awful lot of film for the £3.5k price of a D850.

I've left it so long that all the new film I bought or was gifted in that first flush of film revivalism (after I'd acquired a stack of expired film on Freecycle) has now also expired. I have many, many rolls of Velvia, Provia, Astia, Neopan, Reala, Ekta, etc, in 120/135, and they're all guaranteed to give sub-optimum results now they've been in a box for 5-10 years.

There's also a stack of APS film that I ordered in a flush of madness off Amazon US a year ago which is still with a friend in NYC.

So, while the Pentax K1000 and Olympus OM20 have been relegated to the bottom drawer as "not really working", the Canon EOS 10, EOS IX7, FTb and Bronica SQ-A are all fired up and ready to go. Mebbe next year, eh?

I am surprised how much film has come on recently. Porta 400 shot at 640 and pushed is Flickr pop in an emulsion, and at 400 it gives lovely soft colour (some of which I struggle to scan, bah).

Neopan 400CN (which I hadn’t heard of, only the discontinued 400) is the punchiest b&w I’ve ever seen too.

Reviving this just to kick my own butt into shooting more film. By the end of this summer I want to have *at least* worked through three rolls each of APS (still in NYC!), 120 and 35mm.

This is about the last roll I got developed - Ektachrome GX100, 12 years past its expiry date, which sat in a 1970ish Canon FTb for so long (2014-17) it was able to capture three haircuts and four pairs of glasses on the older kid:

That 50/1.4 lens gets a lot of use these days via an adaptor on my Fuji X-T1 but not on film...

Yeah, I think the MTF review chart culture started driving lens design a long time ago, and really high-MP sensors made things worse. That said, there are some old lenses that are crisp as fuck — I got the old Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 AF Micro and it's one of the sharpest things I've ever used

I have a Google doc that I use to keep track of my extremely sporadic film exploits. I haven't updated the document in 10 months and, apparently, sitting in a drawer waiting to be sent to a lab:
Ilford Delta 100 Pro (Canon FTb, finished Apr 2019)
Kodak Color Plus 200 (Canon EOS 10, finished Jun 2018)
Fujicolor C200 (Canon EOS 10, finished Sep 2019)
Fujicolor Pro 800Z (Bronica SQ-A, finished Apr 2019)

There's a roll of Fuji Pro160C in the Bronica, Ekta 100G in the EOS10 and Velvia 50 in the FTb. When all this madness is over, I'll finish those and send the lot off.
