^^ That song also has a good addition to "songs with lyrics addressed to a doctor"

I went to the doctor
He said "You should be dead"
I said, "I was Doc, but now I'm back."
Holding on

nice track; as alays, i enjoy the lazy, laid-back laconacy of his vocals.

Temple Beautiful is so, so good. I've been listening to this album a few times a year for the last eight years the way I suspect people ten years older than me listened to Full Moon Fever a few times a year during the nineties.

I need to hear more of his stuff, including that. I have a couple of his '00s albums that I like. This song has gone on a lot of playlists for me.

I saw him and his wife open for Lucinda Williams at a tiny venue in 2002. I had never heard of him, but they did Dylan's "Abandoned Love" as a duet and it ruled. I listened to his new album from around then for a few years after that.

Never saw this thread before! Started in 2017 same year Bobby Fuller Died For Your Sins came out, still my fave of relatively recent releases, but I like the new one, The Land That Time Forgot,in its ballady way---got some great lyrics---his other 2020 release, Strings in the Temple, not as much; was never a big Temple Beautiful fan, but the strings do help---they're all (along with some pre-Bobby music) on his bandcamp---I posted about 'em, and pasted some of his newsletters etc over the years, here:
TS: Lone Justice or Cruzados or Drivin' & Cryin' or Green On Red or Del Fuegos or Jason & The Scorchers or Long Ryders or Bodeans?

Will have to look for that "Abandoned Love," bet it does rule---recently came across the Everly Brothers version on YouTube.
