I am usually a pizza traditionalist but some of the best pizzas I've ever had were a thin crust BBQ chicken pizza with light BBQ sauce as the base and, my gold standard non-traditional pizza I've never seen recreated, a taco pizza with a base refried beans topped with seasoned taco beef, black olives, cheddar and mozzarella cheese with fresh lettuce, sour cream and salsa added to the top post-oven.

Couldn't get in this thread all day because my ridiculous workplace had it flagged as containing adult material (wut). But yes, of course. I am a carnivore and love meat pizzas, but a good margherita is divine. I was (and continue to be) super bummed when Home Run Inn stopped selling their margherita pizza in grocery stores because it is both the best frozen pizza I ever had by far but also probably in my all-time pizza top ten list.

I think both maximalism + minimalism is good with pizzas. I have a kid with autism who will only scrape the toppings of a pizza so I make them packed with mozzarella/cheddar/spicy mexican style cheese/jalapenos/bell peppers/onions/cherry tomatoes/sweetcorn/minced beef/mushroom/garlic combos, mainly because it's the only bit he eats. But I like a nice simple posh margarita with basil leaves and a drizzle of olive oil etc but so fucking rarely get to eat that one.

over here in portland the trendy hipster pizza is new haven style with clams, which is something i never heard of growing up in new jersey. i had one. it was fucking great.
in general though i barely ever order pizzas, because in portland you can get a banh mi that actually tastes good, and also hawaiian food.
