i’ve always been torn abt demarkus - like kerri or derrick he puts out a ton of stuff, some of it amazing, some of it too commercial for my taste

this is the one i keep coming back to

I figure with people like that when they put out a ton of stuff it doesn't really matter some of it isn't very good! I don't have to own or like all of their records.

Its like being a striker, if they have a bad game all is forgiven when they score a goal! I agree though he has a lot of bad records, but I don't mind as there are great ones in there too

saer, Friday, 3 November 2017 23:34 (six years ago) link

This is reminding me of one of my favourite albums, I only like one track on it! in fact i think this is the only good track they ever did

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6nSXqzogB4

Pitched up a little though!

I picked up a bunch of unpromising looking records from a friend earlier this year and didn't bother going through them other than cursory listen till just now and gave them away, and it turns out this was on one of them. I should know by now not to skip

The unpromising sounding Will Dobson, sounds like someone who plays for Lincoln City

Techno and balearic mates! Any ideas what Onur is playing here. The party is 2014 but the record is obviously much older (I think!)

yes, see also the soul city label! though i imagine part of it is due to the fact that it was pressed in smaller quantities and unlike UR stuff never repressed ...

i love this mix so much

Never heard this Kraftwerk track before, I like it a lot. Assumed anything they were doing this late in their career would be a bit thin but this is good!

saer, Wednesday, 6 December 2017 23:09 (six years ago) link

two weeks pass...

so i first heard this track on this comp

https://www.discogs.com/Various-Nuphonic-02/release/129539

when it first came out (all of 18 years ago!)

and i promptly forgot about it until a few days ago when it popped up in itunes shuffle.

man, what a track! moves through broken beat and larry heard styles before settling on a crispy drum loop from which you can trace a neat line to today's lo-fi producers of note

Bought this yesterday, "Destiny" is a fantastic slice of machine funk

Having never heard of the good man, I'm currently listening to Moments in Dub, & wow...

willem, Sunday, 31 December 2017 10:08 (six years ago) link

yes, moments in dub is incredible. one of mo’wax’s best moments.

brimstead, Friday, 5 January 2018 00:50 (six years ago) link

i also have an mp3 of a dub mix of "road trip" that has a wicked "rude movements" type synth solo

brimstead, Friday, 5 January 2018 00:53 (six years ago) link

yes i have waxed rhapsodic about "flim flam" on here many times

several years ago i posted that "flim flam" was perfect and eternal and better than any given maurizio or basic channel side (still stand by this) but i can't find it

:-(

the late great, Friday, 5 January 2018 02:10 (six years ago) link

Hell yeah. The guitar riff in "film flam" is like a massive glittering comet or something... I've never heard anything like it... totally classic future disco

brimstead, Friday, 5 January 2018 23:28 (six years ago) link
