- 76ers are fun with simmons/embiid and my fav defensive shark Covington
- Bucks for Giannis, but they're halfcourt offense leaves a lot to be desired

Surprises so far:

- Indiana who are playing fast pace and fun ball without their best(?) player Myles Turner
- Magic and Pistons both playing well but probably smoke n mirrors

yes simmons is something special from what i've seen,i figure it's a good thing to have a 76s team that is appealing to watch. I can maybe catch them at MSG or Barclays

he could average a trip dub as early as season three

Spottie, Thursday, 2 November 2017 18:59 (six years ago) link

is monta ellis playing in europe or mongolia or something i miss that guy

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Thursday, 2 November 2017 19:08 (six years ago) link

simmons is super fun hes always attacking very smoothly def one of those players who just catches your eye, tho he has an insanely bad jumper that looks like hes going to shoot it with his right hand until shortly before the release when he shoots with his left, we are rich in charismatic rookie basketball geniuses with psychotically broken jumpers this year

*obvs its a lot easier to deal with having no jumper if youre a 7foot pf/c than it is if youre a 6-6 pg

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 November 2017 19:42 (six years ago) link

*obvs its a lot easier if nobody cares about your dad

jeez hes only 32

Spottie, Thursday, 2 November 2017 20:09 (six years ago) link

I've never liked watching monta. frustrating player

ciderpress, Thursday, 2 November 2017 20:18 (six years ago) link

he had that one year where he shot over 50% and i was SOLD. dude couldn't miss from the elbows and it opened up his whole game. he was really electrifying. then.... the moped.

Spottie, Thursday, 2 November 2017 20:23 (six years ago) link

he had some nice stretches after that i thought. but he can't hit the three ball and doesn't defend.

would love to see him in the Ice Cube 3x3 league if that's still a thing

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Thursday, 2 November 2017 20:29 (six years ago) link

Domantas Sabonis is shooting 62% from the field with a per 36 of 17-15-4

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 2 November 2017 20:38 (six years ago) link

yeah he did xp but the trust was gone and then curry came along. him in the Big 3 seems like a perfect fit ha.

Spottie, Thursday, 2 November 2017 20:59 (six years ago) link

i was like pacers playing good whos their coach again some young upstart *i google* its nate mcmillan

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 November 2017 21:01 (six years ago) link

I could see the Oladipo thing being pure variance but after 8 games I think they must have something with Sabonis

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 2 November 2017 21:12 (six years ago) link

yup

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 November 2017 21:14 (six years ago) link

should be interesting to see what happens when Myles gets back

maybe nate saw the writing on the wall and turned the corner

Spottie, Thursday, 2 November 2017 21:34 (six years ago) link

seems like u cld use him n sabonis together almost interchangeably on offense and it wld be a chore for defenses to keep up with xp

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 November 2017 21:35 (six years ago) link

sort of feel like mcmillan's playing days are over idk, looks kinda out of shape

k3vin k., Thursday, 2 November 2017 21:37 (six years ago) link

id like to see turner and sabonis share the court more tbh

micah, Thursday, 2 November 2017 21:40 (six years ago) link

seems like it should work

Spottie, Thursday, 2 November 2017 21:49 (six years ago) link

the issue is finding time for thad young, sabonis and leaf. leaf has been playing quite well

micah, Thursday, 2 November 2017 23:34 (six years ago) link

hadn't yet considered this but it's possible sabonis' dad spent time around the blazers when mcmillan was coaching them (i believe he still lived in portland at the time) and that relationship could be working out for indy

Clay, Thursday, 2 November 2017 23:35 (six years ago) link

huh, that never occured to me.

micah, Thursday, 2 November 2017 23:38 (six years ago) link

"Current Blazers coach Nate McMillan played against Sabonis in the mid-1990s, and marveled at his passing ability and basketball intelligence."

micah, Thursday, 2 November 2017 23:42 (six years ago) link

big sabonis not playing in the nba in his prime is an alltime tragedy

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 November 2017 23:55 (six years ago) link

these tnt games tonight are both gonna be slaughters arent they

They run so much of their offense thru the Dipo high p'n'r; if you have both of those guys in there, it can clog things up and gives the Pacers one less person waiting for a 3pt kickout. So far, Myles has been a pick/pop dude, which I'm not as excited about as Domas running to the rim on those rolls (and either rebounding misses or drawing fouls). For now, I prefer him on the 2nd team, paired with Lance (they looked great doing the p'n'r during pre-season; don't think it's an accident that Lance's game has plummeted with Sabonis playing w/ the starters). That sucks b/c w/o Myles inside, the Pacers have an awful interior defense, which leads to the perimeter defenders not trusting the help, which has led to early foul trouble for Sabonis and Dipo of all people.

I imagine McMillan will experiment with the Thad/Domas/Myles front-court; I'd feel better about it if Myles could just take one extra step back and launch 3s rather than long 2s. Either way, good problems to have.

Bojan in the starting lineup has been worrisome, too, although he's made up for it with some nice streaky 3pt shooting. He was getting victimized by Lebron in the 3rd Q last night, and I'm surprised more teams don't iso against Bojan like that.

Seems like Lonzo knows he can’t shoot

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 3 November 2017 02:51 (six years ago) link

and that's a good ol' fashioned 41-pt quarter folks

call all destroyer, Friday, 3 November 2017 03:10 (six years ago) link

This is kind of a concerning game from Lonzo tbh...

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 3 November 2017 03:43 (six years ago) link

Lonzo entered tonight shooting 33-29-56

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 3 November 2017 03:43 (six years ago) link

there's a fine line between not forcing things and completely removing yourself from the action

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 3 November 2017 04:56 (six years ago) link

Lonzo Ball seriously going to finish this game 0-2 from the field?

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 3 November 2017 04:57 (six years ago) link
