In my day, we Magyvered a bowl out of an apple or a soda can. Hmph.

the actual buds that have today are super potent and have awesome flavors so i have no need for dabbing. Vape pens however are super convenient and discreet so i usually have one of those handy to supplement the bud.

i mostly get stuff from these dudes and it's insane

Thank God for my family as I’d be a total stoner alcoholic if not for them

i haven't seen a roving horde of weedsmokers but i can't imagine it would be any more of an annoyance than the roving horde of drunk people who yell Woo

so super fucking annoying then?

Universal LULU Nation (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 1 November 2017 16:30 (six years ago) link

haha yeah, but the unstated part of that was that i rarely see the drunk Woo people, and when i do it's because i'm in a part of town late at night with a lot of bar, or at a baseball game. so even though they are very annoying, it ends up being a tiny bit of life, easily avoided. and i'm guessing that the coughing weedbros are even rarer of a sight. like maybe avoid pearl street in boulder and watch out if you're walking around the 420 Den in denver but other than that...

however, i am willing to be convinced of the existence of hordes of street prowling weedbros! basically i'm saying can i be shown pics of weirdos who might love...i can't finish this. i try to join in on pun culture in ILX but i can't. 420 forever.

i am just responsibly reporting third hand gossip :)

I don't know what ums is envisioning, but my experience in legal states is not roaming packs of weedbros, but people stepping out of a bar to have a drag or two on a pen, or passing a small pipe for a minute before a show, or getting really wild by puffing a joint before getting on the bus after work.

I admit that on more than one occasion I have eaten half a cookie or a single mint before watching a band or movie, and then terrorised the streets by walking alone back to where I was staying #partoftheproblem

I swear I saw/smelled LESS public weed smoking after it was legalized in WA than before. But I smelled unsmoked weed a lot more, like the guy in line in front of you at the grocery store who obviously had an incredibly smelly bud in his jacket. I moved to a medical-only state this summer and see much more casual public smoking here for sure.

My (university) students also all seemed to stop wearing obvious weed-related clothing - it wasn't edgy to have a shirt that with a pot leaf or the word DAB on it anymore, so it was like wearing a shirt that said BEER on it and expecting everyone to be stoked about it.

There were a ton more people who used it and were open about it though, like older people who hadn't smoked in years, or some of my wife's grad students who were super nerds and had never used it before but would casually mention how they all had edibles and a bottle of wine and watched a movie over the weekend.

like older people who hadn't smoked in years,

i respect this crowd and i also feel so sorry for them. they wanted to smoke, obviously, but didn't want to deal with the hassle of finding it and/or didn't want to break the law. i understand this lawful approach but think about how many really boring saturday nights could have been at least slightly mitigated

i'm not sure if Bhutan is still trying to measure Gross National Happiness, but you know if they legalized it the GNH would jump up

Karl Malone, Wednesday, 1 November 2017 19:38 (six years ago) link

In the Kingdom of Bhutan, cannabis is so prolific that it is seen as a pest, and is fed to pigs rather than being used by humans for fibre or intoxicant purposes. Bhutan lacks a close connection with the plant. However, there is some evidence of traditional use, and use in modern times is increasing.

people of bhutan, do what you think is best, but...you should consider establishing a close connection with this plant

I had a stamp of Bhutan once when I was young. It was my prize possession, along with a stamp of Brunei. Bhutan with they happiness index, Brunei with its sultan as richest person in the world. Before Bill Gates ran away with that.

Pigs being high has got to count for something though, right? That could lead to happiness.

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 1 November 2017 19:53 (six years ago) link

Unfortunately the pigs all started buying Phish records.

From a retail store without a prescription?

Moodles, Wednesday, 1 November 2017 22:04 (six years ago) link

In June we still needed a "medical card," which could be arranged online for a trifling fee from a very cooperative "doctor" in less than an hour.

As I understand it, that step won't be necessary starting in January.

Careful with that Ax, Emanuel (Ye Mad Puffin), Wednesday, 1 November 2017 22:37 (six years ago) link

stores will be legal, not sure how many will be ready to go on the 1st of January

(in LA, it's hard to go too many blocks without seeing a sign for a weed doctor: walk in, pay c.$30, get prescription valid for 1 year. some will require proof of in-state address.)

Mostly switched to edibles (gummies) these days.

VyrnaKnowlIsAHeadbanger, Saturday, 21 April 2018 04:18 (six years ago) link

And I'd say two bags of 25 10mg candies a week. Some weeks none also.
